To transfer library filters from FF7 to FF8 you need to copy two files and one folder:
Library\ Library.xml LibraryStructure.xml FOR MAC: from /Users/Your_User_Name/Library/Application Support/Filter Forge 7/System to /Users/Your_User_Name/Library/Application Support/Filter Forge 8/System FOR WINDOWS: from %APPDATA%\Filter Forge 7\System\ to %APPDATA%\Filter Forge 8\System\ To transfer user-made filters, environments and custom presets you need to copy the corresponding folders: from /Users/Your_User_Name/Library/Application Support/Filter Forge 7/ to /Users/Your_User_Name/Library/Application Support/Filter Forge 8/ or from %APPDATA%\Filter Forge 7\ to %APPDATA%\Filter Forge 8\ ------------------------------------ I just upgraded to version 3. Can I import filters from the older version? Thanks. [Original message edited by moderator to be able to post on top] |

This method has worked fine for me in the past but from what i remember last time i tried this i was offline then first needed to connect to the internet before the filters listed correctly.
That is not a problem for me at the moment with this computer as i have been using the built in updater tool and have not needed to transfer any filters just yet. I was thinking about using my 8GB USB storage to transfer the filters and install FF3 on a laptop without a web connection however which might cause some problems. Is there a way to do it without a web connection also or would that not work? |

James, you need to transfer
%APPDATA%\Filter Forge 3\System\ and %APPDATA%\Filter Forge 3\My Filters to another computer. This doesn't require an internet connection. |

I think this will be useful for the ones that want to transfer filters from FF 3.0 to the new FF 40

Thank you for these easy-to-follow instructions.
On my Mavericks-run iMac, I copied the three items Library, Library.xml and LibraryStructure.xml from here: /Users/Your_User_Name/Library/Application Support/Filter Forge 3/System/ to here: /Users/Your_User_Name/Library/Application Support/Filter Forge 4/System/ After that, I synched with your server when prompted to do so, checked for filter updates, and checked for app/plugin updates. So far, everything seems to be working fine. Now that I have imported everything from FF 3.0 to 4.0, I imagine that if I want to completely delete FF 3.0 from my hard drive, I would remove the following: "Filter Forge 3" folder from the "Applications" folder "Filter Forge 3" folder from the "~/Library/Application Support" folder "FilterForge.pluginv3" alias from the Adobe Photoshop CS6/Plug-ins/Filters" folder Am I missing anything? I didn't find any prefs files in "~/Library/Preferences". Oh, if I may make a suggestion: It would be great if with each major release, you included some code which would give a user the option to automatically import filters from a previous version of the app to a new version of the app. Thanks for listening, and thank you again for a fine product. ![]() WordWeaver |

I'm not an expert in Macs but I think you're right. There are no pref files in "~/Library/Preferences".

GMM, upon using a program uninstaller called CleanApp, I discovered that there is another folder that needs to be removed as well called "com.FilterForge.FilterForge3.savedState".
This particular folder is found here: ~/Library/Saved Application State/ Thus, as far as I can tell, to completely uninstall a previous version of Filter Forge from a hard drive on a Macintosh OS X machine -- after moving your filters to the new version -- the following four items need to be removed: "Filter Forge 3" folder from the "Applications" folder. "Filter Forge 3" folder from the "~/Library/Application Support" folder. "FilterForge.pluginv3" alias from the Adobe Photoshop CS6/Plug-ins/Filters" folder. "com.FilterForge.FilterForge3.savedState" folder from the "~/Library/Saved Application State" folder. WordWeaver |

This seems to have worked perfectly for me going from FF8 to FF9 as well.
