Vladimir,
Do previous Editor Picks qualify for rewards? Those picked before the new policy.
How do we know a filter has qualified us for an award level? Will we be notified if we qualify for a free copy?

Gee, I just read the email. That's really disappointing.
I liked the idea of rewarding high-quality filters, regardless of whether they would be frequently applied (something that I've resigned myself to as unlikely for many of the textures I create - after all, a single, high quality texture may be invaluable for a 3d model, but you only need one) Now I'm a little taken aback.

Yes they do, but we didn't award any Editor's Picks prior to this update (our Library robot did award a few Editor's Picks due to a bug, but that doesn't count).

Good point. Separate 'Featured Filters' (exposure on the front page) and 'Editor's Picks' (as a condition for a reward) may be a good idea. We'll think about that. As for the current scheme, it's by no means final. If it won't work as expected, we'll simply replace it with another scheme -- quicker evolution is one of the reasons why we're shifting the Filter Library to the web.

Vladimir,
Like Mike, I hate to see "Editor Picks" not receive reward. I think it will hurt in the development of high quaility submissions. Basically you have a 5 level reward structure. How do we know when we have acheived an award level with a filter?

Every time a filter attains a high Usage Rank, we'll send you an email (not implemented yet, we're working on this).

Any registered beta tester who reported a bug, helped us reproduce a bug, helped us fix a bug, suggested a feature that made it into the product, or suggested a feature that was included into our development plan, will get a free copy. These conditions aren't rigid, and can be expanded to include other situations and kinds of feedback.
I'd like to update this list with a new condition: People who expand the common pool of knowledge about Filter Forge also qualify for a free copy.
I don't have a precise definition yet, but here's a preliminary version: Anyone who submits a snippet illustrating a new workflow or technique or shares this technique with other users on these forums can qualify for a free copy.
If I or any of our 'official' posters ever said "I'm adding this to our development plan" in response to any of your feature suggestions, you can count on the free copy

Hi Valadimir.
Apologies if this sounds a little cheeky but I had to ask.
Many of the beta testers who have posted in the forums have found bugs and problems and suggested new features. So I guess some of us can look forward to a free copy of FF. My question is what if these same beta testers have filters that go to a high rating as well. Will this count towards discount vouchers and lifetime updates?
Ken.

Well seeing as FF is still in beta and the web site is kinda still in beta. I am looking at the rewards policy still in beta. So I find that the rewards at this point a side bonus for the moment. I am just having to much fun to notice. Just getting an Editors Pick is cool. Its like getting a picture on the front page of a newspaper,(for a good reason thou)
Thats enough rambling I will do. Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times!
