I am working on an image of two old doors in Switzerland. When I try any filters for the edges or frames the colour of the doors change from a bright turquoise to a pale blue and the shingles on the house fade. So, in the end to keep the beautiful colours I will not use the filters. Can anyone tell me why that would happen? Thanks.

I think it would help if you could post before-after images of what is happening. Which filters are these, is it on all filters?

Sorry Mike, after I processed both images to send they seem to be OK. Until I hit apply all the colours had faded but when it actually applied the colours are OK. I am just learning and trying to decide if I am going to buy this so that is why all the questions. Thanks.

Shari, it is likely that you are working with a surface mode filter (You can tell if the Lightning tab, with the environment image ball is there). The colors in the environment will influence the overall toning of the output.

It might be possible to tweak a given filter for minimal toning of flat surfaces (i.e. the image in a frame or something). Can you list some of the filters where you experienced this toning?
