I have one question that I think that I am sure I know the answer but I want to confirm it

Has both plugin and standalone version the same FF software core?

I mean if there is only ONE version of FF software that works for both, or there are two separate software?

As far as I know and seeing how FF works I think that there is only and just one version, there is no two FF different software (one standalone and one plugin) as both are the same one, and the only difference is how is activated and started.

I think that the plugin is the same as the standalone software and the only difference is that it is activated and triggered by the plugin inside the host that calls the FF software (instead of you open it) and it takes the source from the host instead of you loading one, but as said, both are the same core software.

YES, this is what I really think an you are right, and just wanted to confirm it from someone from FF team, but as you say, I think that the right answer is this, the plugin is just and only a bridge to activate the FF software.

And teleport the goodness back and forth.

[Edit] I thought this was mentioned several times across time and space on the FilterForge forums.

Is it the plugin ONLY a bridge for connecting FF to the host

Exactly.

What are the differences between using FF as standalone and as plugin?

I am sorry that I did not remember at all that I have already asked in that thread this question, and also did not remember the answer.
