Getting a message stating 'This program version is outdated and cannot be used anymore. Please download a newer version from www.filterforge.com' when I try to open Filter Forge 2, either as standalone, or from Photoshop CS4. I have downloaded the version listed on the site, and it still gives that message. It had been working yesterday, as well, so this is something that kicked in today. Any ideas on this?

Looks like this version of the beta is time/date sensitive and ends today. I've download what's available and it's no different than what I have on the system already. Nice job FF...

Same thing. I think it would be better if when there needs to be an update that ff strongly recommends rather than disables.

And then when it asks you to update, there should ACTUALLY BE an update available! Just saying...

Hopefully they'll also add the ability to install to CS5, since it's released and some people are now using it (like me). Getting tired of the DLL error of pulling FF through the CS4 plugin folder. Also, thankfully, I still have FF 1.x installed but that does nothing to replace the lost work from the lockup FF caused.

I was finally able to run the original version after much ado. Update did indeed freeze up photoshop causing a screeching halt. Setup continued to run in the background (task manager) so even first version did not want to start until I figured out it was still running. Wee bit worried that I'm going to run into future issues as I cannot afford update right now...lost my job recently

![]() Comment On first post: Yes! I bet everyone got the SAME message. I downloaded & installed, what I assumed to be, the NEW version, two separate times,.. ![]() 'This program version is outdated and cannot be used anymore. Please download a newer version from www.filterforge.com' I wrote customer service. Must be a bug of some type? ![]() Filter Forge 1, works fine. Have a good evening. ![]() ![]() I'm mystified as to why an updated version would be required when there is nothing on the FF site to satisfy this requirement. I'm also surprised that [mis]direction to the site comes by way of a cryptic error message. The FF v1.x method of delivering updates from within a running program seemed a lot more bulletproof than this. ![]() Most amazingly, with so many reports of the identical problem, why has there been no word from the author(s) providing us with the nature and time-line for a fix? ![]() ![]() |

I am not an employee of FF but.....It seems that this was just posted today not long ago so.....Sometimes these things are not addressed until the next morning..U.S time.... Maybe they are napping at this time...... ![]() ![]() Yep this most likley looks like a bug of some sort...I get this on the Windows version as well as the OSX version so its not specific to one platform..... I'm guessing this a built in FAIL that was implemented long ago when they thought the new version would be out by now.
Still, I lost a whole day of work and I don't get many of these chunks of time. |

I don't like the sound of that - setting it back now. I hope I have not screwed it up. The last thing I need is to be on the phone for a day trying to get my apps reactivated. @ronviers |

Hey Guys,
Ya know, I think the reason it doesn't work, is that it isn't the NEW one we are installing, it is the same old 2.0,not the new Beta 3, that one will be posted tomorrow, bet I'm right. ![]() Have a good evening! ![]() Ron zazzle.com/Ronspassionfordesign*

If anyone is interested in trying out this bug it pops up after the set date and time.....It pops up at 5-31-2010 and the time is 5P.M. exactly EST on the east coast of the US...I am in Detroit so that is what I set my time for....Set your time zones to match....

![]() The new AA options are cool - the diagnostics are really interesting, it should be a nice sanity check when trying to see why filters run slowly. |

Yes this one got me as well.
I'd actually like the choice of upgrading betas (like in other software beta testing) rather than being told I am going to upgrade and I'm going to do it right now. AC |

This is annoying, i take it there is nothing new in this update either but some thing set every few months or so and all betas will keep timing out?

There are a few new things, the best one is that you now can build bomber particles with "non seamless components" and still generate with seamless check on, that IS a great improvement.

Yeah i noticed the AA thing yesterday although i don't really need that, non seamless component particles i did not know about. I am guessing though there will be a bigger release of this new version soon though with more updates/features.
