Are there any details available yet on how this will work? Will there be "Open this in FF v1" and "Open this in FF v2" download buttons on the filter library so users can choose which version to download? And if a filter author submits a v2 filter update to an existing v1 filter, will the filter henceforth be available only for v2 users, or will it be 'branched' into v1 and v2 variants? --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

I've been wondering the same thing, I don't want to upgrade a filter to V2 and over write V1 version effectively taking away filters from V1 users

i would think there would be two libraries. v1 FF could only access the original library, but v2 FF could access both.

If I were in Vlad's shoes, I'd let v1 users download v2 filters but then display a "you need to upgrade to v2 to enjoy this awesome advanced filter! Click <here> to buy the Upgrade." message when the filter is used. Or maybe display a random bold-lettered quote instead: "Filtering v2 filters is going REALLY well in v2! I'm loving my v2 stuff!" ![]() ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

On a similar topic, I've been looking at ways to get filters that I made in FF2 beta back into FF. I've been hacking the XML file version string and replacing new components with obsolete ones and even hacking the entire FFXML file to be back-compatible but it's a big pain.
I'd love to see an export to previous FF version function, something that quickly checked which versions you could export to and then replaced nodes with the obsolete ones if necessary. Could be pretty handy if there wasn't an immediate pick-up of V2. |

If both 1.0 and 2.0 are installed, the 2.0 will open the filters.
According to the current implementation, the filter will be available only to the users of 2.0. However, we may rethink that (we didn't work on this yet). The decision should be known before the holiday season, but after the Stage Two. |
