It's likely not ready yet.
As an exercise, activate the 'Obsolete' category for the component toolbar and snoop around. You'll get an idea what components are still being worked on. For example, all the Curves and CurveOps haven't been HDR'd yet. ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

Ooooh, HDR CURVES!
![]() But still the question remains still, why isn't there an HDR Color picker control? They have one for using inside the filter, but not as a user-operable one to put in the controls list. ![]() Roses are #FF0000

Well, they're still working on the HDR pipeline. As Vlad mentioned in other threads, not all HDR component are ready, so we shouldn't expect a fully functional HDR pipeline just yet. --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

But isn't it the same thing? I don't see the difference between the direct component that supports HDR, and the control that allows users to. I do understand what you're saying though, but it doesn't seem like it should be not ready for the control, but ready for the component, when they're essentially identical.

It probably isn't that easy or it would be in there. I'd guess that it's FF's mantra of making everything remappable to a sane range for randomisation -- if you don't have a finite range for colors then random variants would mostly be garbage.
If you want to do something like that now, just plug a normal color control into a 100% multiply Blend (HDR) with the foreground color set to (10, 10, 10) or something else to set your sane range. All you need to do then is try to remember that all colors from that control come out ten times brighter. ![]() |

I actually figured that out earlier while trying to get a workaround. It's neat huh?

We postponed it to the next beta stage, to free development time for higher-priority stuff. If it doesn't make it into the next beta, we may release it in a post-release update. |

Another workaround is the Multiply component -- just multiply your color by something higher than 1.

Since you're primarily focusing on big features now to make a commercial release "no later than in June 2010" (quote from GMM), can we expect lots of smaller feature-updates during the v2 life-cycle (as opposed to the more bug-fixing oriented v1 updates)? --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |
