Hy guys, I purchases the mac version of FF4.0 over 2 years ago, but I could NEVER use it, since it wouldn't even open on my machine. Version 5 doesn't work as well, so I got advised by the support to use the Beta 6 version...it runs at least, but it doesn't Installs new filters
![]() When Beta 6 opened I thought I could, at least, get one job done with the 30 day trial, and have my money worth, but I was wrong When I try to download a filter I get a message that the access to the server is disabled for this version. So, Is it possible to get some danm filters installed on Beta 6? How do I do it? Will I ever get my money worth or was I fooled again? Thank you and sorry for the rage! |

hi, I am using a IMac and I am using FF 5 without any problem, why it does not work for you? Here is a quote I have seen
It seems that beta version early stages does not allow any filter download But you can not move any filter if it did not work for you, so I think that the only alternative possible for you is to buy the FF Librarian that is all the filters already downloaded and so you can copy the ones you may want FF Librarian You need the librarian version versus the 29$ simple version because you do not have any reference of wich one are the filter names as they are just numbers |

While LexArt is correct please note that Librarian 5 only works with Filter Forge 5, so you won't be able to integrate it with FF6. You may want to go with the Library Backup zip file for $29.

Thanks again LexArt, I have an iMac too, and I even wiped the whole system clean trying to get FF working, I got nothing, I struggle to make this thing to work for over 2 years, the only thing I haven't tried is voodoo or black magic.
Now Mr. Moderator GMM says that I have to spend 69 US$ to be able to get some filters. Ok I feel stupid enough already buying an applications that doesn't work at all and had a TERRIBLE support, people just didn't care or even ignored me, just like they are doing now, I've sent dozens of e-mails and this forum reply was the fist thing I got. One more thing, let me explain you the reality of where I live, Brazil, this place is sinking, we are in a terrible crises, so 69 Dollars would be equivalent of spending US$ 249.31, for US people, but if we compare the minimum wages here and there it makes it relatively even more expensive for me, 69 Dollars is equal to 31% of a minimum wage in Brazil. Yeah, minimum wage here is about US$ 1,38 per hour. I'm not mingy, I can afford it, but I feel fool for having to spend more money on something I wouldn't need if the software worked properly. I can even understand that some time things doesn't work but I felt really disrespected when tech support simply just stopped answering my e-mails. thank you |

Sorry that I do not understand why it does not work for you, what OS X version are you using? There must be a reason why you can not make it work, as surely it works well on MacOS as mostly all the mac users are able to use it
I did not know that for using Librarian you need to have FF 5.0, I think that this may be because it needs to have access to the filter library server
this is wrong, if you read correctly the answer of GMM, you only have to pay 29$ not 69$, with the 29$ you get all the filters and you can install them inside FF 6 |

I'm sorry to hear that you're not able to get your software installed and working on your machine. I've been using filter Forge on Mac for many years, over many OS versions (and Filter Forge versions), without any trouble.
If you are having trouble using the regular *released* version that you paid for, then perhaps you should work on solving that problem before installing less stable and reliable pre-release software. To get help with that installation, try posting in the bugs and problems forum for Mac users - https://www.filterforge.com/forum/list.php?FID=16 You should also be as specific as possible (unlike your posts here). Includes specifics about your machine and type (late 2009 iMac, etc), as well as your system configuration (memory, GPU, etc) and your OS version. The people on this board are helpful, but they're not in the room there with you, and only know the system details that you're able to share. Also, try to be as specific as you can about the problem you're having. Doesn't work - when you click on the icon does anything happen? Do you see an error message (and if so, what does it say exactly)? I also recommend trying to launch the program after rebooting the machine, and after quitting out of all other programs you may have running. This makes troubleshooting a bit easier. Once you've got it working you can then try running it with other programs, and if a problem pops up then at least you'll have a better idea of where to look. Good luck! |

Just out of curiosity...
what is the reason that "Access to the server is disabled in this Filter Forge version."? Why am I asking? I'd like to try some of the blur-heavy, less optimized filters from the library on the new 64bit version, but do not have FF5 installed on my office machine. Wouldn't it make sense to allow people to download library filters to test how they perform with this beta version? --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

Sorry, I seem to have missed your question. It definitely makes sense to allow people to download filters, but the server version needs to be developed as well. However it is already nearing completion. We hope to release a new beta version with access to the server by the end of July.

No, Librarian doesn't create zip files and no, Librarian 5 won't work with FF 6. Please check the following page:

Does this imply that we'll see significant changes to the server-side (i.e. filter library) features in the next beta stage, or am I reading too much into this statement. ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

I'm afraid not. But since we moved to a new codebase (Cocoa and similar stuff) it takes some time to test and deploy the server version. |
