Please, read later below in next post, why I have made this thread here.

Cinema 4D - Abstract Square Mesh Tutorial HD - Creating a randomized landscape full of 3D cubes in Maxon Cinema 4D with Mograph tools

I have been amazed and stunned how very EASY and very fast is to make this kind of 3D landscape filled with 3D cubes shown in the tutorial above here

Introduction to Cinema 4D Mograph Tutorial Part 1

This tutorial above is about the basic use of Mograph that is very interesting and has a great potential and looks very useful, and is very easy to use, it gets MORE interesting(for me at least)after the first 5 minutes when it gets to to the Grid array and shows later how can an object be cloned over the surface of another object.

I have been seeing since long time ago many beautiful and cool 3D cube landscapes made in 3D software and rendered with nice materials and textures, although I have searched a tutorial for this I have never found it UNTIL NOW that I have found the above tutorials that shows HOW to do this very easily.

Sometime ago I have put this thread 3D Cubes backgrounds designs for inspiration and as suggestions and I thought that to make this would be much more difficult and would be for experienced and skilled 3D artists.

This thread was put because of the great, cool and amazing examples that uberzev, ThreeDee and Indigo Ray have been making

Other Interesting Ideas by ThreeDee

Nearly at the end of page 3 you can see this

AND ALSO IN THIS OTHER THREAD

Cube / Isometric Challenges

AND also ThreeDee planted the seed on me for using FF textures mapping on 3D models

There is hope for cubic mapping...

AND so I think that using the above tutorials and then using some of the FF textures available it could be good to have some cool and beautiful textured cubes landscapes

Time to save up and buy Cinema 4D?

Well, I do not think so, because the Mograph Tools is not available in the PRIME edition, and the "cheapest" version available with Mograph is "Broadcast" that cost about 1600$ smile:( smile:cry:

I have searched for older version to see if they could be cheaper, but they are NOT, the price is around the same, AND for an OLDER version smile:( smile:evil:

BUT there seems to be a possible way to get the personal and non commercial version that is for education, that is FREE, and I will see the conditions of this and what is needed and it´s requirements to get it.

AND IT MOVES!!!!

I am NOT interested at all (at least in this moment) in the main attractive point of Cinema 4D that is ANIMATION and moving around all this cubes, particles, shapes, etc. They surely looks very nice and awesome effects, BUT I do not have any use for this animations, I just want to have the still images.

Here is the information for the student FREE version and the difference with the FULL paid version

Cinema 4D student version comparison

Quote
The Cinema 4D Student Version is almost identical in features to the $3,695 Studio edition of the software, but lacks support for network rendering and plugins dependent on serial numbers. Licences last for 18 months.

Still do not know WHAT are the requirements and conditions to be able to get this student version

Oh and don't buy older software unless you have a REALLY good purpose. For example if a plugin you developed or own doesn't work and you need it badly, you should ask for older versions. Old versions in general will work, but because system software, hardware move on, there's a tendency for older versions to get left behind quickly. Support for versions of software don't necessary get cut but become smaller and smaller. In the end you should get the latest version and stick with upgrading beyond that point. Like even a version older should not be touched. If you're buying it, you should always buy the latest one, otherwise you're getting cheated on.

Actually here's what it says: Students in a design curriculum at participating educational institutions can download a free educational version of CINEMA 4D. To access the free student license portal, you must have an access code. Only schools that have an educational agreement with Maxon, The Americas are provided access to codes for their students.

So you should be part of a design major if you want to gain access to it.

Only schools that have an educational agreement with Maxon,

A very late answer smile;) smile:D

i have contacted again to Maxon in Spain a few days ago and they told me that even schools that NOT all the schools that may have an agreement with Maxon are possible to get the student license, because it must be a HIGH grade school with a full degree, as others lower are not included.
i am not in any school, but the son of a friend, is now in one of the maxon official approved school and can not get the student discount because is a 6 month course.

I still do not have cinema 4d yet
