Fence gen. I saw something similar in the presets collection in Genetica 3.5 so I thought I'd give it a shot making it. It's similar, but not the same. smile:)

Sometime ago, I developed a bunch of generators in FilterForge to ease up my work for several scenes in an animated short called HAVOC. You can see the whole thing there: HAVOC part 1: What Your Dreams are Made of

The final scene took some time to create. Most of the textures were created in FilterForge and were mapped onto simple objects. While you can't really see any of the the good textures I used in the final sequence here's a list of what I used: Hit The Wall by Indigo Ray, Vintage Clay Tile by Mike Blackney, Wooden Roof by Constantin Malkov, Stone with Moss by cfree68, and 2 others (The sky background and windows) by me smile:) Thanks everybody for making great filters smile:)

AW CRAP THIS IS SWEET.
Welp, I'm reading your blog now. And listening to your music.
Damn.

Also the patterns above remind me of some big posters we had in Troyes (France) by some artist from the 60s, I think.

I've been taking time to create some utility filters for photographic uses. Here's a really simple one I've been working on, and I'm sure there's already a couple in the FilterForge library. There needs some more adjustment work. Probably will use Betis' "Exposure Snipplet" though I don't know if I exactly will or not.

Here's the original image.

There are several super-simple controls which will give you anything from subtle looks to intense imageFX. Though if you really don't care too much about taking control, just hit the random button! And suddenly get more unique results.

I have a feeling I didn't explain much about what the filter itself does. This filter basically generates some fake HDR imagery. That's all there is to it. smile;) It utilizes the new math components for the generation. And it runs very fast.

Nice examples. As someone who has tried to make fake HDR filters and failed, this one sure looks like a winner. I love the look of super saturated images. It is hard to do without having the colors go all crazy. Cool Stuff!

I submitted the HDRize filter to the library. It's a pretty rough filter but its blazing fast and does give you some HDResque results. Although, I looked through my little library and found another HDR filter that sticks a bit "true-er" to the actual HDR generation process. Here's an image I processed with it.

Unlike HDRize (the filter presented in the posts above) this HDR filter actaully creates multiple exposures using the HDRblend mode introduced in version 2. It consequently has less control, but IS closer to what HDR would do in actuality.

I'll have to clean the work up a bit, try to optimize it for submission.

HDRize does have 1 visual problem: that is that the areas that need brightness become washed out. This version of the HDR filter thingy actually solves that issue quite well. It's a tad bit slower than the HDRize filter, but it does give better results.

Well, here are more results after tinkering with the new, unreleased filter. The newest version includes additional adjustments to control tonal ranges (though it honestly works kinda randomly.) Either way here's the original shot.

Been developing some new and interesting filters. This new one's fairly in the same style range as some of them. Just wanted to make my own here. Although... I don't get how it took 19 minutes to render this image. This picture doesn't even have AO on it. I faked the AO. smile:| Too bad the details are kinda degraded thanks to jpeg compression but if you could imagine it is kinda full of details.

I honestly have no idea. My guess is the high pass filters but IT IS slow for its end result. I'm going to tinker more with it.

After watching some LIMBO game play I was excited enough to generate a LIMBO-style filter. Not that it takes a picture and makes it LIMBOesque but it just generates a rather harmless level. If you don't get what I'm talking about check what Wiki says about LIMBO: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limbo_(video_game)

Either way here it is

One last image. Currently it features harmless things. I guess I can start making machines and stuff into the design. Oh well that's for another time. smile:)

Oh yes one more thing. This filter DOES use the edge detector for the placement of the "failed attempt at making simple grass" using the bomber. It's not doing too much to the scene but its getting there.

try two blur levels for the fade, then blend the two blurs, it might look like a better transition. Looks really really good though smile:)

So it's been a while I posted anything. Thought it was time to do a bit of upgrade for some of the filters here.

Point and Shoot filter (http://www.filterforge.com/filters/9310.html) now has additional functionality, despite me saying I won't add more functions.

The latest version runs on FilterForge 3:
+ Added 2 types of light leaking - Bomber based and perlin noise based.
+ Added framing with some control.

smile:D Time for some picts!!

Original vs Filtered.

This one shows off the bomber-based light leak / glow effect which happens with cheap plastic lenses.

One last one for today. Regarding the light-leak effect, for type 2 (bomber-based) you can use the photograph's colors to generate the particles OR you can slide the "red-shift" amount to make it look more like it burnt the film out for those portions. I tried to make it so that the effect looks natural, at the same time stylistic and interesting.

Also, by sliding the "variation" slider you can control the position of the light leaking by chance. I mean, I can provide the control-freak version which features sliders to offset light leaks manually, but that takes the fun out of the randomness.
