I would buy soon the app, 119$ is the right price for the pro version. I would expect in future batch processing, better filter organizer (I WANT TO NAME AND RENAME MY FILTERS AND PRESETS), and animating some parameters just like Genetica, at least uncompressed avi's are not so difficult.
Probably stacking filters is a good idea, there are CPU power nowadays. Cheerz ![]() |

Not bad app, in 2 weeks I created about 600 (very sleazy) textures for death metal use, and "processed" all my metal friends. The program has its limitations so I did not used more, today I just found the old files

Nice and well done examples of using FF, like it
Well, according to GMM there will be NO batch processing done inside Filter Forge 4.0, the only way available is using the command line renderer.
YES!!! YES!!! Stacking filters (is like filters in layers) would be really great and wonderful to have inside FF, it has already been added in 2012 to another 3 filter plugins software available for photoshop and they work beautifully and are very useful, and would really love to have these stacking filters also inside filter forge, AND the power needed is the same as they are processed individually and not all toghether. I did already request this stacking filters in April 2011, but there is no news that this will be added soon and do not have hopes about it ![]() ![]() |

Well stacking filters while a good ideal but...IMHO...There are two important parts that make this not so good....If you have a two filters that are slow and you stack those then it will make it even more slow to render......Then you have the fact of the filters that use "Surface".....One filter may use certain lights and maps, etc...While another that you want to stack would use a totally different setting on the lights which may not make the first one look the way it was intended......
You can already stack them by just applying one filter and save the result then open that filters resulting image and apply the other filter to that image....The other option is to edit the filters and blend them together but you may not get the result that you want..... Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times! |

Sorry to say that the stacking does not mix the filters, I mean that each of the filters is processed always in it´s own, so the time to render is always from one filter alone, and does not matter wich filter is from the previous layer or on the next layer, and then after when you finally apply the stacked filters, each filter is processed individually each one after the other, so there is no problem with the time of rendering, it will be the same as if you would have made alone, so it is not more slow to render
As said, filters are handled individually when applied (at least in the other 3 software I have tried that already have this included) so it does not matter if the filters are very different between each other, and they do not interchange or mix, the next filter after the first one is applied over the result of the first one, and the third over the result of the second one, and so on, there is no mix.
Yes, is true that you can do it this way now, but it takes much more time to do it this way, as you have to fully render each result and name it and save it before applying the next filter, and with some slow filters this can take between 15 or 40 minutes for each filter, AND so the main difference would be that you could apply the filters all at once without needing to render them (well using the preview mode) and then after when you hit render or finally apply them all, you can go away and leave them all rendering all the needed time, even if it would be 2 or 3 hours if they are in high resolution.
Yes, although you can mix filters, is not always EASY or good to mix filters, or possible if one have surface type and the other does not, or know HOW to mix them to get the same result. And also there is some experiences from some tests that shows that even if you can mix succesfuly two filters and get the same result the time to render the result can be much higher than to render both filter separately. |

Oh... I did not knew there is a command line renderrer, its really useful enough.
I believe After Effects cannot use FF, but I will try to process a TGA sequence as in the past century. I used to program Photoshop in the past using AdobeScript, Im not sure if I can fool it to use presets... However just now is beer drinking time, CHEERZ ![]() |

Well, for Batch processing there is more than the command line renderer, please see the FF Wiki and search for the part where is put "External Filter Forge tools"
As far as I know FF is not compatible with After Effects, only with some still 2D graphics software |
