Now that we finally have the very interesting, great, awesome, wonderful and useful feature of using multiple images as sources for the filter effect I wonder if it could be possible to make in some way in Filter Forge 3.0 (or future version) to be able to stack and apply multiple filter effects and/or presets to the SAME image.

I mean MIXING different filters to the same image in the SAME PREVIEW BEFORE RENDERING and do not need to go through an action in photoshop to make apply different filters to the same image

I think that this idea would work much better when applying different Photographic Filter effects that are fast and do not distort or modify much the image and could be a great feature to be able to stack in Filter Forge a few of photographic effects filters all in the same time (without having to render the previous filter before) to achieve a final great image

I got the idea fr om to 4 places as example of what I have in mind:

PHOTOTOOLS 2.6 by OnOne Software - Stacking Filter Effects

1 - The first comes after seen a video of the company OnOne Software that have made the new PhotoTools 2.6 filters that can be stacked and applied one over the other and so you could use many different filters to modify the image you have.

You can see a video training showing how this works here

http://www.ononesoftware.com/university/ (I wanted to put direct link but is not possible)

Please, to be able to see the video of "STACKING EFFECTS" you need:

1- Choose "Phototools" in the left side menu of videos
2 - Wait for the new Phototools menu to appear
3 - Now choose "Using the stack" under "Learning the basic" part

PHOTOSHOP SMART OBJECTS AND SMART FILTERS

2 - The second is from the Smart Objects that use Smart Filters, that can be stacked and can be applied many filters in layers to the same image. SO perhaps Filter Forge could have some kind of "Smart Filter Forge filters" that could be stacked for making the final result of an image.

3 - Also the Filter Forge Fillters could be seen in some way like Adjustment Layers used in photoshop, wh ere instead of Photoshop photo effects, it would be Filter Forge Filters applied in layers to the same image.

CAMERA LENS FILTERS ADDED TO THE FRONT OF THE CAMERA BEFORE TAKING THE PHOTO

4 - The last is from photography, and would be like putting different kind of filters in front of the lens so the photo taken would be modified by a few lenses.Yes, I know, this is probably a bad comparison to compare camera filter to Filter Forge filter which are totally diferent.

HOW COULD THIS IDEA BE DONE IN FILTER FORGE ?

I am NOT any kind of programmer and do know if with the Filter Forge structure and in the way it has been programmed could be in any way be transformed to be able to apply different filters to the same image all the same time.

Perhaps this would be easier to make it available ONLY on the standalone version, OR perhaps ONLY in the Photoshop plugin, or both, I do not know which way would be possible and better.

I know that many of the filters are very processor intensive and takes some time to show the result, so if you stack a few of the filters toghether the time to preview and render would be probably much higher, BUT now that there is the new great Progressive preview that works much faster than before, it could be used to preview the final result of applying many different filters instead of just one.

As said already above, this could be perhaps much more useful with filters that are not so much processor intensive like FF photographic effects filters

For the final render of that image with multiple filter forge filters applied could be done something like a queue filter render, and so render the filters one by one and then mixed them all toghther at the end.

Before I think that this could not have been possible, but now with new generation faster intel Sandybrige and the future AMD Bulldozer could perhaps be possible.

Now computers are getting each time much faster and powerful, and processor speed which is the MAIN motor and workforce for Filter Forge are getting much better, I have recently seen than in June AMD will release the new CPU generation and Intel will also release another new Generation by Autumm or Winter 2011 with up to 8 and 12 cores.

I now do not have currently a great computer as I am having a AMD quad Core 640 2.2 Mghz, so it is not very fast, but I have the plan to upgrade it this year.

1. Render the same image with multiple filters, use the new multiple image component.

2. Use Photoshop to blend them together, I'm guessing this is how most users do it, since it's meant to be a Photoshop filter anyway.

Stacking multiple filters to render into one final result would most likely use up all your cpu + ram, crash, or freeze unless you have a render farm or super computer.

As far as I know you CAN´T use the new multiple image component to render the same image with different multiple filters, or I am missing something ? How would you do this.

I think that obviously it would not be a stacking of filters ALL rendering at once because it will hog much the computer, what I say that they could be applied in turns or following a list, so first one, then the second and so on.

And this would NOT be layered
