----I have a question. What is the 2nd pass during the preview render doing ? Sometimes that 2nd pass really changes things, and I'm not too pleased with it, not that that matters ha-ha, but I thouht I'd ask what exactly it is/is doing. Thanks.

I believe that's the antialias pass. You should be able to stop it or make it do a more accurate job in the Filter menu.

Exactly, that's anti-aliasing. If you're not pleased with the changes it brings, that is probably because the texture you're creating is too high-frequency (has many details which are smaller than one pixel). To fix this, reduce the frequency or set anti-aliasing to a higher number of samples (default is 5 samples per pixel).

set anti-aliasing to a higher number of samples <----O.k., and will that setting stay/transfer to other users of the filter, or would that have to be noted in the description, and anyone using the filter would need to make that same adjustment ?
