Alexandria, VA, November 21, 2014 – Filter Forge, Inc. today released the first beta of Filter Forge 5.0, a high-end plugin for Adobe Photoshop allowing computer artists to generate textures, create visual effects, enhance photos, and process images. The beta adds support for randomization locks that enhance user control over parameter randomization.
The beta testing will be conducted in several stages, with new features added at every stage. The key feature introduced in the first beta stage is the ability to lock off specific filter parameters from being randomized, thus maintaining a consistent filter appearance throughout randomization. For more information about the beta, visit https://www.filterforge.com/download/beta5/.
The beta testing is open for anyone – no registration required. The beta is a fully functional 30-day trial version of Filter Forge 5.0 Professional edition. All registered users of Filter Forge can get a free beta key that allows them to use the beta version until Filter Forge 5.0 becomes commercially available.
Filter Forge is a versatile Photoshop plugin which lets both novice and expert users create a wide variety of realistic and abstract textures and effects. Users can take instant advantage of over 10,500 free community-created filters in the online filter library at https://www.filterforge.com/filters/, or create their own filters in the visual filter editor by assembling them from components such as blurs, gradients, color adjustments, noises, distortions, or blends. All filters are adjustable, resolution independent, support real-world HDRI lighting and ambient occlusion, can automatically generate diffuse, specular, bump, and normal maps, and most can be seamlessly tiled.
About Filter Forge, Inc. – Based in Alexandria, VA, Filter Forge, Inc. is a one-product company solely focused on developing Filter Forge.
Filter Forge is – by quite a margin – the most powerful plug-in we've looked at here. That's because it's a tool for creating plug-ins, both generative texture-creation tools and effect filters.
“It's a powerful and logical way of creating effects that's relatively easy to learn by seeing how other effects are built. Creating filters from scratch is time-consuming, but for a wider user group, it's a great way to modify already-created effects.”
“I'm thinking Filter Forge should come with a warning: 'This Product could be Habit Forming'.”
