Filter Forge 4.0 Enters Beta Testing

Alexandria, VA, September 12, 2012 – Filter Forge, Inc. today released the first beta of Filter Forge 4.0, a high-end plugin for Adobe Photoshop allowing computer artists to generate textures, create visual effects, enhance photos, and process images. The beta introduces support for component groups that can greatly simplify the process of filter creation.

The beta testing will be conducted in several stages, with new features added at every stage. The key feature introduced in the first beta stage is the ability to create groups that let you "package" reusable parts of the filter tree into custom-made components with user-definable inputs and parameters. The beta testing is open for anyone – no registration required. The beta is a fully functional 30-day trial version of Filter Forge 4.0 Professional edition. All registered users of Filter Forge can get a free beta key that allows them to use the beta version until the end of the beta period. Users who find and report bugs will be rewarded with free copies of Filter Forge, which will be granted after Filter Forge 4.0 becomes commercially available. The commercial version is planned for release within several months.

Filter Forge is a versatile Photoshop plugin which lets both novice and expert users create a wide variety of realistic and abstract textures and effects. Users can take instant advantage of over 9000 free community-created filters in the online filter library at http://www.filterforge.com/filters/, or create their own filters in the visual filter editor by assembling them from components such as blurs, gradients, color adjustments, noises, distortions, or blends. All filters are adjustable, resolution independent, support real-world HDRI lighting and ambient occlusion, can automatically generate diffuse, specular, bump, and normal maps, and most can be seamlessly tiled.
