Alexandria, VA, USA (October 16, 2009) – Filter Forge, Inc. today released the long-anticipated beta of Filter Forge 2.0, a high-end plugin for Adobe Photoshop allowing computer artists to build their own filters, and announced a special 25% discount for the version 1.0.
The beta testing will be conducted in several stages, with new features added at every stage. Filter Forge is a versatile Photoshop plugin which lets both novice and expert users create a wide variety of realistic and abstract textures and effects. Users can take instant advantage of over 6500 free community-created filters in the online Filter Library at http://www.filterforge.com/filters/, or create their own filters in the visual filter editor by assembling them from components such as blurs, gradients, color adjustments, noises, distortions, or blends – without writing a single line of code. Filter Forge's rendering engine takes full advantage of multi-core processors – for example, a quad-core processor can nearly quadruple the rendering speed. A high-precision floating-point rendering pipeline allows Filter Forge to support 16- and 32-bit image modes, eliminates unwanted artifacts such as color banding and lets users save the results into high-precision image formats such as OpenEXR. Filter Forge's custom memory manager helps it render large bitmaps – up to 65000x65000 pixels – even on moderate amounts of RAM.
