  • Adobe is making their own "Filter Forge" with Pixel Bender engine?
... without those issues being resolved." YES, I AGREE WITH YOU ON THIS !! (Although not o the part that I will not be upgrading) What is the point of having new features, new components, and new possible interesting things IF FF CONTINUES TO BE SLOW AND TAKES MUCH TIME TO PREVIEW AND RENDER THE RESULT ???? The organizational ability has been said that IS already a priority for FF 4 so this is not a problem.

  • LAB#3015 Skybase
Author: Skybase. "Does this one wash out?" Yeah, the colors kinda get washed out and sometimes goes overkill due to the way I handled parts of the process. I'll just fix that part. The other thing is that it's a bit slow, as in this 600x600 image takes around 30 seconds to render with anti-alias. The fact that it goes through a bunch of median nodes and percent is where the slow down is probably happening. Eh... well... I also took note of the 12 and 16 color gradients! Excellent work I say!!

  • Optimization Question with 0% Blend
Author: jitspoe. Yeah, I figured that was what was happening. I think that's why my crate texture is so slow. It's rendering like 4x's what it needs to. Conditionals are slow, so I can see why it would be more expensive to do the check, but if you've got a really expensive set of components that's only visible on 10% of the image. What would be nice is some sort ...

  • Not sure what to call this... Filter Diagnostics?
... have the sort of necessity to do that. Generally, people here would rather get the filter to look like their desired output than to construct a highly efficient procedural effect. At least that's how I see it. As of now, we have the elapsed time of render display. That can be helpful in assessing slow filters. And there's a simple, general list of "fast components" vs "slow components" that's mildly out of date right now that we have. With experience, it's easy to see where the bottlenecks usually are... I always have some ...

  • ?Filters like Pikazo?
Author: CaliCoastReplay. Finally got a lovely version that works reasonably well with mosaics, but it's too slow - which is odd, because all it does is a Bomber plus a few rotate calls, then Sphinx's mapscript-combiner from Collage. Are rotates slow in FF? It was only after I added those that it bogged down on the render time. I'll keep pushing, or else wait to see if ThreeDee releases his version. Waiting with bated breath. ThreeDee, I would literally pay for a lesson or two with you on filter design... http://i.imgur.com/p6D9dJy.jpg

  • Slow.. slow... slow...
Author: MuseMary. 2021- FF 10- Super Long Rendering Just bought the FF 10. The rendering takes hours!!!!! I love filter forge, though the adminstration MUST fix this issue and post current instructions for settings ASAP to help with slow rendering, until there is a fix!

  • Why is the render taking so long
Author: CFandM. Yep...Some filters take longer then others to render the same image. This is due to the components in the filter itself...Some of the blurs are known for this....What filter is it that is slow in rendering?..

  • is it just me or is the new version 7 really slow to render?
Author: CopperScaleDragon. Everything seems to take forever to render these days, since the 7update. I am on Windows 10 and I use FF as a Photoshop plugin and standalone too. Either way, renders are taking forever.

  • Shar´s Forge
... evident to find between add a second slider or disconnect the one... but I will try. As the filter is a bit slower then the first version, if I add more stuff like northern lights, volcano activity, more hills, crevasses in the glacier etc, this will render more slow the filter. It was in my idea. But what I can do it's to separate things in 2 filters. A volcano version and a winter scenes version. I don't like for myself and users when filters are to slow. I will work on it this week. ;)

  • Slow rendering
Author: Skybase. " at the time render times were slow because of the MAC OS. So I just experimented in Windows and the render times are about the same. " Ahoy. That shouldn't be the case at all, if anything, I would have observed that and reported it since I do use both systems with identical ...

  • Slow rendering
... as they are in these other tools. The only way that FF could be faster is to have a monster faster CPU or that the FF team could make a new render engine with OpenCL hardware acceleration or find another way to improve the render speed ABOUT RENDER SPEED OF FILTER FORGE As Skybase have said right, the speed issue, is NOT for ALL the filters, and it will depend very much on the filters you choose, there are available filters very fast, and some very slow, and a whole range of different speeds in the middle. I can´t tell how many filters are fast or slow, you have to test them, some filters only takes a few seconds, others a few minutes and others could take take hours. And of course ALL ...

  • Is FF Inc. making something for FF 4.0 to have a FASTER render engine?
... not very high for printing the results. I think that there is no use for a 600 x 600 resolution. I will be making when I can some test as a PROOF that FF 3.0 even on a very fast and modern CPU multicore (8 cores= 4 cores + 4 virtual) KEEPS being SLOW. It is FAST on simple filters or ones that do not involve complex calculations, for example on photo filters effects is fast. It would be a very bad thing if FF 4.0 would have the same render engine as FF 3.0 with the same speed. I hope and wish that the FF developers team have some plans to optimize and make a faster render engine on FF 4.0, otherwise FF will sink compared with the graphic software competition that will be available ...

  • Generate Backgrounds Surface by ronviers
Author: Redcap. "Is there a fast way to load the settings and without it trying to resave the filter? This version is slow rendering like a few of mine. Wonder if there is a way for me to do a simple version one to go with them and have them work. " I have noticed if you use any noise besides perlin in a surfaced texture it is a little bit slow. Just comes with the ...

  • Please, make the 600x600 preview view faster for FF 6.0 and 300x300
..., OR have some kind of big improvement in the render speed in whatever way, it would be the greatest reason to upgrade and would sky rocket the sales of FF and it would be much more popular, as it is recognized as an awesome and amazing software BUT slow to render and also to preview any changes you make in the settings

  • Making trees -- any ideas?
... again slowed down the render considerably, so I settled for a simpler solution. Kraellin, that's a good idea on the doubling-up of the trunk for a more natural look; many trees indeed grow that way. Gotta try it. Of course, every extra iteration slows down the render by about 50%... I did get the tree working the way I wanted it, so it is in the queue now; two versions thereof, one with leaves, one without (putting both in the same would have killed the speed improvements again). Here's a preview: With ...

  • Paint HDRtist: How long to render?
... progress bar hasn't appeared to move forward for a couple of hours now). Any ideas?" With this 3872 x 2592 and the Paint HDRtist filter it can´t never take more than one hour (unless it was a very slow computer), Filter Forge may be very slow sometimes and you ahve to wait a lot but would never take 24 hours to make a result and even much less that it had a 30% render result in 24 hours :?: :?: if the progress bar hasn't appeared to move forward is because something has happened in the computer and have entered probably an infinity loop, and the only possible thing is to restart it and try again. Does ...

  • Slow.. slow... slow...
... FF so is slower than others filters, BUT if you say that it takes 1 HOUR, 2 Hours and 1,5 Hours to make a 2000 x 2000 is TOO slow, and I think that there may be something wrong in the settings or something weird is happening I suposse that you are ... ... version and you have activated the multicore option setting. If you have a 88 core computer it CAN´T take 1,5 hours to render :?: :?: :?: I will make a test myself and will tell you

  • Loop 3D
Author: Sphinx.. Cool stuff! "ThreeDee wrote: The main problem being the slowness of the method. " How does the attached one compare? It cuts the rendering time to 1/4 here.

  • Steampunk Panel by Mongoose King
Author: earthbound. Any further info on this? If the super-high detail (slow render) version isn't uploaded here, could you upload it elsewhere? :)

  • Skydome by Squideey
Author: Indigo Ray. The loop is slow to render, but it really gives the clouds volume. 8)
