1) Google Chrome appears to be the problem. After the text appears in Google Chrome, try to do a File / Save to your desktop or download folder. Then double click the downloaded filter (Color Change.ffxml).
2) Try using Internet Explorer as your browser. Go to the forum and click on the Color Change.ffxml from IE. It should either ask you which program to run or save it. Try both.
3) Google Chrome appears to not have right file association ...
Is there a way to find all the filters attached to forum posts?
... included in the posts I think are not indexed or shown as "text" and then neither FF search or Google search will be able to find them
I have already made a similar search in Google and FF, and the only thing that apears when looking for .ffxml files is when .ffxml is WRITTEN on the post but not when a .ffxml file is attached to the post.
As you say perhaps, someone knows a way to find attached filters to post making a search, and be possible perhaps in some way that I do not know.

About the description, it is currently editable (unlike author, factory keywords etc), meaning that if you change it, then after you update the filter then what description will win? the one on the FFXML or the one on the FFCat?
I can make the description also a factory description and add a user description... that's one option... please tell me if it's a good solution for you.

Author: Bella. Looks like the problem is with the filter. Could you please post the .ffxml file here? To find the .ffxml file, you can select the filter and press Ctrl+L (the Locate File command, it opens the folder where the selected filter is stored on your computer).

Your solution has corrected the problem that I was having.
I didn't think that the FFXML files were platform-independent.
I mistakenly copied the FFXML files (on my Mac) to:
Applications\Filter Forge\Resources\System\Library. :D

I'm not sure I understand you correctly but the batch renderer allows you to specify any number of images or filters. Assume you have source images 1.jpg, 2.jpg and 3.jpg that need to be processed with filters 1.ffxml, 2.ffxml and 3.ffxml, then you'll need a task file like this:

downloading filters from forum
... the forums got updated...i think. and around that time my i.e. downloads from the forums quit working right. it used to be when i hit 'save target as' on a filter posted in the forums, i'd get a save window with the name of the filter and its proper .ffxml extension. but, somewhere around the time when the filters in the forums were listed as real long numerical names my save as quit showing anything but .xml as the extension and i cant seem to get it to show its normal .ffxml .

alpha premultiplication bug?

Is there something wrong with the setup used in "Trying it out.ffxml" and "premult.ffxml" that causes us to have this issue? What exactly is "Alpha Premultiplication.ffxml" doing differently that allows it to avoid this?

Here is the tip for changing a FF8 filter to FF7. I used TextEdit on the Mac to the edit the ffxml file. You can probably use Notepad in Windows (or any other text editor). You can open an ffxml in any text editor, copy everything from to and paste that into another ffxml file.

Downloading a filter but not on the latest version of FF
Author: ThreeDee. I doubt it. FF is not backwards compatible in that way. The other direction (earlier to later) should work by copying the ffxml files from one folder to another. There's a "locate file" command when you have a filter selected that will open the file folder the ffxml file is in in explorer/finder.

FF3 Internal Error???
Author: GMM. I'm 99% sure the issue is caused by a filter. Reinstalling Filter Forge without removing the offending filter from the filter storage will have no effect. If you think the filter is HAL 9000, please locate and remove Library_5979-2.ffxml; if you are not sure please remove all the *.ffxml files from the Library folder.
"Internal Error" on start-up renders Filter Forge unuable

However, when I open the application, I still get the same error message and it appears that filters are still installed / downloaded....
