  • Noise Lab
... history of a surface and give it great photorealistic credibility. However, the important aspect to consider is the render performance of a texture filter. We must endeavor to achieve our photorealistic results as economically as possible. As such, the challenge is to achieve as much photorealism as possible with the least necessary filter complexity. Still - in my book - a noise-generator needs to break 'CG-ness', otherwise I'm just not wow'd. If I see a filter and go 'Whoa, I know it's noise, but ...

... CUBES INSTEAD OF ONLY COLORS? Now and idea I have just had is if it could be possible to have images in the sides of all those tiny cubes, because you have shown always colorized cubes, and colorization from source images, but I think that the next challenge/step would be to be able to show different images, photos or to be able to load your own textures for the sides of the tiny cubes It could be in two ways, show one image covering all the sides of one cube, or have different images on each ...

  • FF StevieJs' Way
... be doing differently to help the community. 1: Create an official policy on changing and resubmitting filters, I have several cool mods to established filters, but don't really feel like I could submit them. It would be interesting, if technically challenging, to allow remixed filters to be linked to their "parent" filters, basically creating a network of links from filter to filter. 2: Bypass, undercut, and out-do, NOT out-license, texture resellers by creating an official FF marketplace,...

  • Importing your own greyscale images to use as noise patterns
... looking for if you can't import your own patterns?? " The whole point of FF is about getting from A to B (or Z rather) in a fully PROCEDURAL way, and bitmaps just don't lend themselves well at all to that approach, as Vladimir explained. The challenge lies in combining the basic building blocks in such a way that the end result of the process gives you something similar enough to what you had in mind originally. The big advantage of this approach is that once you have written this 'recipe',...

  • Scripting a Spherical Noise Map Generator
... working in color and grayscale modes. Sadly, the results don't differ any from the API - Uniform Noise. You just get a uniform size noise, without polar distortion like I expected. Still, it was just a warm-up before trying to tackle something more challenging, like Cell Noise. I'm not yet sure if I can adapt the example to this, but at the moment it's the only kind I have an example for. I'd be thrilled if anyone can provide (or post links to) scripts or coding samples for scripting/programming ...

  • Update component versions option
Author: Sphinx.. BUMP! I'd like to challenge your concept of pixel perfect backward compatibility via the component versioning strategy. 1. Why would anyone want to use an outdated version of a component? 2. Your list of components to maintain and support will just grow and grow 3....

... liquify do and do minor adjustments and get results instantly. It's faster and more precise, and interactive, than trying to use a program that wasn't intended to do the type of thing you're asking for. I mean I figure it's really not that much of a challenge if you ignore all of that. Just need to distort the eyes with a bulge effect which would make things look weird haha. But in a sense is that what's being asked? In the end the filter CAN exist it's just that it'd be kinda like a really niche,...

... that surely this is not difficult to make on 3D software, but as I have really very little experience in all these 3D software, and I am not as experienced and skilled as you are, it would be much more difficult. Also I wanted to suggest this as a challenge for anyone expert in FF that would like to have something to do and try his skills on this. • Newbie: Can I sample textures instead of using existing ones?
Author: infiniview. I am not exactly sure what you mean by "sample" in this case. However if you just mean can you use your own image the answer is sure. If in doing so your challenge is to make it seamless or rather as much as possible then you can try using the "offset" filter under "other" at the bottom of your filters list in PS. Make sure the amount of offset is exactly half the size of your image....

  • Filter Forge user base and product promotion
... because through scripting FF could seriously grow their toolset - and make FF better for all users without having to divert developer resources - IF ONLY they were properly incentivising the community. Personally, it gives me great pleasure to create them, use them in my work, share them with other users, hear how much someone likes my work, and engage the challenge of achieving rewards.....because it tells me how good my work really is. I'll be damned if I have to feel like not submitting anything just because it is the only way to keep cloners from piggy-backing on my efforts and intellectual property....

As being quite a space freak, I do want some kind of nebulae + space-scape generator for myself and everybody else. Of course, this entire long long forum began by ThreeDee and continued by numerous others always inspired what to do next. Either way, here's the next step ...

  • Make easier and automatic AGAMOGRAPHS using FF instead of by hand
....com/upload/forum/494/image.jpeg " this text comes from the first link above I created two different templates for this project and here’s why. TEMPLATE 1 is the easiest to make. You draw directly on the folded template. It’s also a little more challenging to envision since you are drawing two different pictures separated into “slices.” I recommend this template for designs that are not image driven, i.e. it’s great for patterns and abstract drawings but not representational ...

  • Legal uses of filters
... about what good comes out of publishing the methodology. But I do upload effect filters more often because it requires a user-input. This means that the end-result cannot be fully achieved without the user feeding their own imagery. It's quite a challenge to sell the effect as stock material because it can only be part of a process. This basically means as an author, you should least be mindful that such acts exist and cannot be avoided. That when you create a generator available publicly,...
