  • 41 Million Euro Challenge
Author: Pauli. Today the world learnt that someone pays 41 Million Euro for a painting* of Gerhard Richter. If you study his oeuvre (i.e. via Google image search) you might discuss two questions: a) Does he 'randomize' an inner 'preset' over and over again? b) Can one achieve this art with FilterForge? My answer to both questions tends to be 'yes'. In other words: Show your force, FF-community! 8) ____ * http://cdn3.spiegel.de/images/image-809616-galleryV9-pxmd.jpg

  • Inspirational ideas with images and videos for creating filters in FF
Author: SpaceRay. I have just found this well done and interesting cool fractals made by Robert Fathauer.com Iteration Art (http://robertfathauer.com/IterationArt.html) And I remember that there was already here in the forum the Fractal tessellation Challenge (https://www.filterforge.com/forum/read.php?FID=10&TID=10317) and that I have continued working with this and have already made some progress in FF although is nearly already finished but have not finished it yet and will show later Here are ...

  • Cube / Isometric Challenges
... at 4 so I could make even taller particles, each 1/4 of maximum particle width. The bottoms of the front rows are simply stretched (fr om the vertical midpoint) with the lookup component afterwards, they are not really that tall. Now, for a real challenge, can you figure out how the overall shape is lim ited to an exact square?

  • Challenge: Connect them right..
Author: Sphinx.. LOL! Yes, Uber sent me that example (just kidding). No I made some mistakes in the number part of the challenge (can't edit post!). Forget the numbers However I only used the digits 0,1,2 and 5 (sorry about the confusion) - but use that as a hint, not a requirement (if you can make the same image using other numbers, that is accepted). So using those ...

... "swiss cheese," "fried egg," and I go "Huh? Why wouldn't you just take a photo of the damn thing?" Hehe. I would, if I needed a photo of the damn thing! The way I see it, it's really about the artistic and technical challenge of recreating these things in a realistic way. Most of the time I'm quite pleased with the results, and I go "Hmmm.. not too bad for a homemade!" ;) :D

  • Autopsy by Ipsissimus
Author: Ipsissimus. I've take that as a challenge :D ... but finally I've found a way to get rid of the black edges. It was not that easy as the problem came from several parts of the filter. I had a reflection map which was darker on the border ... and removing it was a good step in the right ...

  • Decal Flames from a decade ago
Author: emme. Yeah, this is definitely a tricky shape to generate if you want to keep it fully procedural. There is a systematic structure to it, but you might need some fairly complex logic to keep it from overlapping itself. It's an interesting challenge though, might have to try it one day :) I'm thinking it might make sense to generate the negative space around the shape instead. It would appear there's less branching that way... But I agree with uberzev, it would be much easier to just design ...

  • Make easier and automatic AGAMOGRAPHS using FF instead of by hand
... you start to work on it. Like Skybase said, the hard part is to make it work dynamically with any number of cuts. I find part of the problem is the way remapping works on different inputs - it's difficult to keep everything in sync. This is a good challenge, there must be a simple way to do this. Let's see who comes up with the most elegant solution. :)

  • Offset: how to 'bend' things?
... that one bend that you see. You can either use the same methodology to do the bend the other way or rotate the whole thing around, depending on how you're putting your texture together. The snippet is in the library now. However, this ain't half the challenge of making it tile, you're gonna have fun figuring that out... (But don't worry, it's easier than solving the Rubik's cube.) Hint: Check out Voldemort's Random Rotate Tile (http://www.filterforge.com/filters/3667.html).

  • Escher Symmetry Challenge
Author: uberzev. http://www.mcescher.com/Gallery/symmetry-bmp/E107.jpg http://www.mcescher.com/Gallery/symmetry-bmp/E104.jpg http://www.mcescher.com/Gallery/symmetry-bmp/E42.jpg More Escher Images (http://www.mcescher.com/Gallery/gallery-symmetry.htm) Escher @ Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M._C._Escher) Now obviously it's going to be difficult to generate representative imagery, but I think even abstract designs such as my concept images below are cool... http://img15.imageshack...

  • Venetain Blind by Carl
Author: ronviers. "Carl wrote: big challenge" I would like to say the process has been enjoyable but mostly it has been difficult and tedious. It will get better when I begin to work in areas I have previously been introduced to. I got a little of that earlier this week when I ...

  • A place for monsters
... But somewhere in the beginning of 2013, I will come back with monster creations. Hoping that you will come back here in this thread with yours. :D I invite others members to create some monsters or what you want soon. Morgan, don't forget the challenge... we all wait for your creations. :) ;)

  • Impressionist Curve by Rick Duim
... well (plus this uncovered a possible cache bug), so I generated my own rotation map from the center and corner rotation points. Probably my most innovative filter to date, but you can't really expect most people to appreciate the "technical" challenge. Just so it looks good. I'm certainly enjoying using it and I'm glad you both like it.

Author: CFandM. "rilos wrote: Although numbers???? Now that's gonna be like making fonts in Filter Forge a challenge! • Off the Deep End with ThreeDee
... lot of improvement; it's too slow for example. I'm looking forward to seeing how you did your trees in particular... they look quite nice.) Zoomed out / Costal city would be cool. Could put directional shading on mountains. The thing I found most challenging for my landscape was the roads, actually. Very hard to get them to look like a proper road system, and have the surrounding areas look right.

  • Thank You To The Filter Makers
Author: DownTheShore. I recently found out about Filter Forge and bought the Basic version. I just wanted to say thank you to all of you who have created such wonderful filters! I am on a website where there is a weekly challenge to take an image and reinterpret it as creatively as we want, and I am having a great time applying your filters to the images as a jumping off point and playing around with them from there. I wanted to let you know that all your time and effort ...

  • 3D sphrerical geometric hexagonal tiled viewed from inside challenge
... hexagonal tiles shapes and then cut it in half or delete the unwanted tiles of one side. Sorry this is just my imaginatgion, as I really do not know how this is possible and if it can be done this way. The main point for this thread was as a challenge for making this inside FF by exoerts like uberzev, ThreeDee and Indigo Ray that have shown some good examples of 3D illusion making inside FF

  • Pyramids by matrix
... graphically (using the other half of my brain, hehe), but my math coprocessor seems to have an "overflow" problem on how to implement it in FF. Programmatically it is not a very big issue, but trying to do it with FF components has proven rather challenging.

... tracked drawing all kinds of maps) that I might use to plan out a world and some of the basics of the cities I came across this cool site. http://www.complexification.net/gallery/machines/substrate/index.php I thought this would certainly make a worthy challenge for the master here. http://www.complexification.net/gallery/machines/substrate/index.php (http://www.complexification.net/gallery/machines/substrate/index.php)

  • Rain Ripples by Crapadilla
Author: jffe. I haven't downloaded this one yet, but looking at the control names and examples, it seems to be missing an *amount o' drops* type of control ? If there is none, might that not make good sense as a control option/challenge ? :D jffe Added: Well, I felt stoopid there, so I grabbed it. It doesn't seem to have a control for the number or even approx. number of drops. I did see the ripple control, and that's a nice bonus to be sure. Hate to be picky, but what ...
