  • 3D Reflective Smooth Techno Photo Effect by DJI
Author: DJI. Skybase was telling me that he's getting slow rendering times with this filter. He said that @ 600x600 rez it was taking 2 minuets. I used this image (2732x1536 rez) and it renderd in around 3 minuets. That's nice and fast on my little computer. :D Could I get some feedback on this?

  • Speed of filter processing – FIXED
Author: Skybase. Oh god... Another thing I figured was that the Mac PS Plugin seems to be EXTREMELY slow compared to the Standalone copy. I don't have render times or any data, but its quite obvious no matter what filter you use.... Has this been reported?

  • Rendering Speed Classification on Filter Details page?
Author: jffe. Overall that's not a bad idea. Some people won't care, and others will. The only real downside would be it could deter people from even downloading the filter in the first place, ie = not wanting to waste a lot of time on a slow rendering filter ya know. jffe

  • SpiralGraphics announces Genetica 3.0!
... knowledge about it. I was also given a version for free for being a beta tester as well but i had been neglecting to use it all this time. I might have used it very recently but with all of the software i am testing currently it's foggy. CONS: *Very slow in rendering, even simple stone textures it was horrible. If you have a dual-core or quad-core Filter Forge does better. Also there was several speed enhancement updates but based on my own experiences many renders were still very slow. *Philosophy in the ...

  • Slow.. slow... slow...
... with a default xml for rendering. " I wonder if the speed of the FF command line rendered is the same than the one using the full version of filter forge (I mean the software open) "By the way the Mystery of why Vincs got this very slow render times is STILL unsolved so please GMM or any other, help him be able to solve this problem, thanks" As there has not been any further answer I do not know if this has been solved perhaps with FF customer support or Vincs has been able to ...

  • Slow.. slow... slow...
Author: unmessy. I know this is an old thread, but I wonder if any of you guys can help - I am having the same problem. Many of the filters render incredibly slow. I tried reading in the forums for optimizing settings, but even with the tweaks I am getting an unusable rendering speed. I made a test of rendering the same filter that was in the discussion : simple stone http://www.filterforge.com/filters/9436....

  • Ultraforge initial beta findings
... Grimmy. Terrible. The first prompt I tried was an awful mess. It rendered some shapes that were complete nonsense and nothing to do with what I asked for. The second attempt it crashed. -It crashes to desktop on every second attempt -Render times are slow -The only thing that renders correctly is the default kitty with the same seed. Everything else is trash. -When comparing this to Microsoft Bing's AI image generator this is complete trash. (Bing generates 4 images in the same render time that are actually useable) -How can ...

  • Table memory limit?
Author: Rachel Duim. Add my vote. I get very slow rendering if I use the FXAA map script component in a filter with a bomber. It has no arrays, but a lot of variables (over 50, necessary given the complexity of the script). Please come up with some way to deal with these memory issues.

  • Autopsy
Author: Carl. thanks jffe Craig :) I will publish this one if I can get the time down [ 1.32 min ] so still too slow, I no longer publish anything that takes over a minute to render ;) back to grunge/worn ............ this uses vlads peeling paint filter

  • Cicuit Board - Printed (WIP)
Author: jffe. "LilBlueSmurf wrote: Also, is tiles a fairly slow component? " ----It shouldn't be unless you are feeding something into a non-color control. No idea about the rest really, the mutliblend's *might* be inefficient, but the rest of the components should be pretty much nil really, like 5% render time all total. jffe

  • Nine Men's Morris (playable)
... filter folders and decided to give it a bit more work. To to speed up rendering try smaller image sizes, or lowering the detail and roughness controls. I use 300x300 on my i7 920 system and with the default preset it's playable. If it's still rendering too slow try the 'Simple' mode. You can also render the board and game pieces ('men') seperately and play in your paint program of choice. Lots of info on Nine Men's Morris can be found here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine_Men's_Morris

  • HUGE Resolutions = FAIL
... those on that list and have had no issues with them....Tried at 9000x9000,15000x15000 and 20000x20000.....I have the AA settings set to render "All Pixels" 25 samples.....I also turn my ram usage to 40% so I can still do other things while FF renders.... Also I am on a slow machine by todays standards....Only an Intel Dual core OCed at 3gig....

  • Multi image codec filter - I'm stuck
... just spent about 6 hours building a filter that does exactly this"Zoltan Erdokovy wrote: The original intention behind this was to batch together multiple images for 3d work: diffuse, normal and specular maps. " It was rejected as 'too slow to render'... which I found really fishy since it took 20 minutes to render on my little Dell laptop sporting a blazing core duo mobility chip. If you want it, I can email it to you. Ian

  • FF3: Slow
... the Plug-In in Photoshop. It took 20 minutes, but it didn't crash. If you go all the way back to the first post I made in this thread, the post was stating that I had read quite a few comments about people using an underpowered machine and getting slow rendering speeds as a result. I was pointing out the problem for me wasn't a slow machine, but it is more likely the fact I am wanting to process larger files. I'd suggest FF should be writing for 64 bit systems. You are way behind already. I don't ...

  • Map Switch Performance Hit
Author: Sphinx.. SSamm, I understand what you're saying - did similar experiments.. what really makes me wonder is not the fact that it slows down rendering, but rather why it does from a software design perspective.. having a turned off vacum cleaner plugged in should not affect the power consumption meter ;)

  • Hairy Critters V 2 by Carl
Author: Carl. It also very silly how the first version was constructed, taking a shocking 11 or so minutes to render [ this one 20 seconds, still probable slow by your standards ;) :) ] and doing a quarter of silly things this version does..... Now I just have to find a use for it :D Thanks uberzev :)

  • Suggestion to give to new filters a Speed render level rating or mark
... it works as it should and is right, I agree with this, and obviously the time is increased according to the size, BUT what I mean with this is that 4000 x 4000 is not a huge resolution and is standard and usual, and if it takes 23 minutes to make a render is a VERY SLOW filter, compared to the 1,20 minutes of the 1000x1000. I will explain again, for a filter to be FAST it should be rendering a 4000 x 4000 image in about 5 or 4 minutes or less, so a 1000 x 1000 should be 16 times lower than that.

  • Only 20 presets per filter allowed?
... inside the Filter Forge Browser, because it needs to MAKE AND RENDER ALL the thumbnails in real time as you click over one filter AND the same for any preset found inside this filter. This is not a problem if the filter is fast, BUT if the filter is slow you will have to wait a lot until you can see a simple thumbnails AND will have to wait a lot for EACH ONE of the presets as they need to be rendered in real time and is not available any kind of pre-rendered previews which should be the best way to avoid and fix this.

  • Scratched Rectanglex by Ramlyn
... faster but not enough, there may be another thing that is taking more time than needed. Maybe you can start from making a simple one and then make it more complex addingmore things Is a great pity that such a beautiful and awesome filter is so slow that even the 600x600 preview takes much time to render I hope and wish that there could be a possible alternative to optimize this in some way, maybe someone else can find a better easy

  • What is important and priority for FF render speed ? NOT HARDWARE !
... does NOT take ALWAYS hours to render on ALL the filters, on some of them this is very fast (specially on the photo effects ones) and it would not be a problem, BUT I think that you are really referering the other filters that really take that time to render as many of the very complex FF self generated graphics. Do not bother I will not give you a hard time sending problems to the FF team with very slow filters.
