I just made one and submitted it, so should be available shortly. Radial Spokes one, that is.

If you need it sooner than shortly, it is attached.

I'm not going through all 11 pages here, but I was thinking Crapa should do a pretzel filter, the overlap stuff's been explored a bit, he could do it ha-ha. smile:D

I've started a topic "Fit Image" option for the "Frame" component in the Feature Wishlist" forum.

Here is the essence (quote from the topic):

Quote
"Fit Image" option for the "Frame" component:

All "Frame" filters cut images. It's possible to fit image by using some of snippets from the FF library, but You'll have problems with non-square images and also need to adjust frame width or image width separately for each other as they are independent.

So, I would like to see a "Fit Image" (or "Fit Content") control in the "Frame" component which will allow to change image's size and automatically adjust frame's width.

Another thing. Even with this option inserted image always will have changed size (shrinked), so I would like also to be able to make a frame AROUND the image without need to distort original image.

And finally - this option MUST work properly with NON-SQUARE images!

Will it be and when if yes - I don't know, but before, I would like to find a snippet which will allow, as minimum, shrink non-square images properly (saving original aspect ratio).

Interesting request...

I use filterforge to unwind, does anyone want to list about 5 to 10 filters they would like to give me something to fill my unwinding time with?

I find a good 10 minute session relieves my stress!

Nice, Crap did you use sort of the same technique I saw with the circle mapping of threedee? that's the nearest i came up with starting to think about how to trick this wavy brick thing...

Now how do you map the circles over eachother... or should i look more at the armor/roof alike filters there are?

Hmmm... I wonder if you could do it w/ a series of subdivision like grids. Only the ones w/ some minimum level of contrast show up are visible.

What is that anyway, 'dilla? Where did it come from?

btw: there is an old game called Homeworld that used a technique like that to make its backgrounds. They took a raster image, and then converted it to a vertex-shaded mesh grid. Pretty cool trick, because it kept the in-game backgrounds super smooth and nice looking.. Here's a picture to make more sense....

Lol, there is a lot of other stuff online also for references than using other apps texture ideas. smile;)

But im not sure how you would do some of that stuff though because they use the canvas to draw complex building shapes. Im sure it's possible in FF but it would take a lot more work im guessing.

You should use -

http://www.flickr.com

Then search for doors and other keywords, you get loads of results. smile:)

I'm new to FF and was using Threedee's marbled papers filter which gave me an idea. I was able to mimic somewhat the look of ikat fabric with this filter but I'd love a filter that does this specifically. It would blur a selection and then drag threads through it. Choice of direction of thread drag- choice of thickness, frequency and color would be great.I'd do it myself if I knew anything at all about how to make filters but right now I am in awe of you all and enjoying playing. So- any takers? smile:) (Here's a sample of the fabrics)http://spiritcloth.typepad.com/spirit...k_ikat.jpg

i had never heard of 'ikat fabric' before. i had to google it. here's where i ended up: http://www.uzbekalive.com/category/Ikat-fabrics/ . the page just before that one explained what ikat was and where it was from. quite interesting! and they really are lovely patterns. i think these would be very do-able and one could produce quite a few different types. good idea smile:)

ok, rosemary,

see if this looks at all ikat to you. it's a bit flat yet and i dont like the thread pattern yet, either, but tell me what you think. does it capture more or less the flavor of the fabric?

Hi Craig- It's looking really good. The thread drag has the ethnic feel of ikat. I love the strong graphics too. Maybe if there was an ability to break the threads- sort of dashing the lines? Is that even possible? Anyway- it's beautiful and as always- I am amazed!

rosemary,

i dont want to hijack this thread, so i'm moving the discussion to here: http://www.filterforge.com/forum/read...5#postform . i've got a new render up there now. you'll need to go to the last page of that thread to see the new image.

here's a challenge for ThreeDee or Uber or Crapadilla or anyone, for that matter. how about a paper airplane folding filter or an origami filter. both of these would be such that they'd be a representative flat piece of paper, but have the fold marks for where one is supposed to fold the paper in order to get whatever figure as a result. tricky, no?

ok, i'm originally from michigan, too, but i had to look 'petosky stone' up on google. you might try uberzev's gallery thread down in the user gallery forum. he did a filter that would qualify for petosky stone, or at least he posted some images from that filter there. i dont think he ever released it, though. wasnt that the one that stevie was bugging him about so much, CF?
