ROFLMAO I didn't realize my 'pizza' was going to start something here.
![]() (A funny note on this thing: this was actually part of my experimentation that led to my 'spheroid fusion' filter.) ![]() The worst part though? I found myself looking at this thing last night and thinking, "I'll bet I could make this look a lot more like pizza now..." Okicyapo |

Again, the images I'm putting up here are Genetica textures. Just posting some of the interesting ones for 'inspiration'...

That definitely looks "achievable" in FF.....thinking of Uber's un-submitted "Stones" filter.....

Wow,they certainly are!!! The blood cells are fantastic ![]() ![]() ![]() I see so many possibilities in that one alone, the lighting and the depth you captured in that... no way will I ever come close to discovering how to do that in FF. I'm glad you are sharing these with us, Dilla... yes, very inspiring, even if all I can do is drool over them, hehe. You are the FF Master (next to Vlad, of course) ![]() ![]() ~Foxxee~

You can have a look at all of them over at Spiral Graphics. By the way, I don't use Genetica at all, and - to be clear - I did not author any of the Genetica textures posted here. --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

The recent OpArt filter does have quite usable spherical mapping... *hint hint*
Or we might go and request a spherical mapping component! ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

Spherical mapping is rather easy to do in FF - Isn't Sjeiti talking about rendering a texture in "reverse spherical mapping" mode so that it maps correctly on a sphere later on? |

Well, if the texture is going to be mapped on a sphere, we don't want to render the texture mapped on a sphere too - that would result in superspherical mapping in the end. What spherical mapping modes are supported by your renderer? For cylindrical mapping, the inverseshould be easy to make, equiretangular is somewhat harder..
When we do "spherical mapping" in FF (be it using the refraction or offset trick), its really a hemispherical fisheye/circular like lens distortion, so making e.g. a preview mapping using that technique will not be correct. |

It's software rendering. I've tried the mapping here with this filter. I couldn't figure out a good way of creating a filter for this without getting a vertical seam.

Where is that seam most visible? The only seam I can spot (having problems controlling the thing) is near one of the poles.. is that it?

You cant see it here. I faked it by using multiple noises and blending them. High-scale noises at the poles, and lower scales near the equator. If you just take one perlin noise and apply an offset to make it equirectangular it will break the seamlessness.
(maybe it's better to continue this discussion in a different thread, this is getting a bit ot) |

Panel making kit would be great, so you feed in your panel shape in black or white, FF detects the area and you can apply a nice style and bevel to it etc. For GUI type work i guess but useful for lots of other work also.

My idea isn't one I'd myself probably use too much, but there's been some recent discussion about using text/type in FF...
My suggestion here, is to have filters be made intentionally for being used for text/type effects, where the intent would be that the user creates some text (in e.g. Photoshop) and selects that text-area before trying to apply the filter. (And then, here the filter may use the Selection component...) Off the top of my head, perhaps some text/type filters could be for: Make the letters look like they had dripping paint. Make the letters look like they were smoke rings/fumes. Make the letters look like they had some alien/ghost kind of glow/motion blur(s). Make the bottom of the letters look more grungy/bloody than the top. Etc... Some of FF library's filters are probably already good for stuff like this, but I don't think too many filters were expressly meant for such purposes yet (so there might be something more interesting to explore here?). |

Long staggered wooden planks, with rivets at corners, like those found on old decks, ships and piers.
I haven't seen that particular combination yet. (and I just went through every single filter here, took about 2.5 hours) |

I read your comments for angelboiii's "Old wooden planks" filter and gave it a go (with inspiration from that filter, and my own "Planks" filter), its checked in and will hopefully make it through tomorrow (its a bit heavy so I'm not sure..). Here's the lead preset: ![]() |

Hmm, not that Crapa couldn't make a filter that looked that good, but it just doesn't quite look like FF, and it's not X by X square. The color separation is too good, and the lighting isn't FF looking. $5 says it's not an FF filter, and it need not be submitted to prove it if it is, a blurred out screen shot of it in editor mode would suffice.
