How about having a module/node which lets the user write code, have a list of available commands and then let the user be able to code something, i dunno if thats a good or bad idea but the idea seems cool, and depending on how advanced the commands were the user base could create new modules when the grouping and toolbox/group storage feature is added.

And thinking about the toolbox again, a cool idea i just had would to be able to store a icon, that way someone from the community if they were kind enough could make icons for user created modules, rotate, add scratches and all sort of cool stuff you would use often. I don't know if any of you have ever used the music program reaktor but something along the lines of how it lets you quickly add custom macros by right clicking.

user created modules is somewhat problematic to a common library. though i do think the idea has some merit. a sort of visual basic 6 implementation would be interesting. or maybe have an FF SDK.

grouping and saving components as internal components has already been discussed and i believe it's on the list. but that too raises some library problems.
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

James,

this has been requested in the form of a Script/Expression component and Vlad responded quite affirmatively to the suggestion. Since there likely won't be an SDK, coding our own components is out of the question (and problematic for the Filter Library, as Kraellin pointed out), but Scripting/Expressions would be possible.

Yes, implementing scripting has its problems, but this is the perfect way to achieve 'functional completeness' without spawning tons of components. As for the language, I think Lua is the best candidate.
