When I select one of the filters in "my filters" for editing I'd like to have the option to "edit a copy of this filter" or "duplicate" - just like when I edit other people's filters from the library.

Yes, I know that I can open the filter and then say "save filter as..", but this workflow is dangerous, because it can happen that I accidently change the orginal when I sometimes forget that step.

It also would be helpful to display the name of the currently shown filter in the editor somewhere - maybe in the title bar?

quasimodo,

go to your documents and settings folder in C: and into your account folder there and fine the folder, 'application data' and then 'Filter Forge'. find the 'My Filters' folder and open it up. there you'll see ALL of the filters in your 'my filters' folder of FF. simply make a copy of any you want and rename them there.

or, simply periodically make a backup of all files there in a backup folder so if you do have an accident you've got a backup.

i know that's not what you're asking for here and i like your idea of being able to 'copy filter' within FF. but in the meantime, this idea might save you some grief.

There is a simplier way. Just press Ctrl + L (or using menu Filter -> Locate File) and you'll see where is filter file located. I agree that this isn't good idea as "save filter as..." but for novices it's definitely shocking to have such option as common action on filter editor run.
