Would be possible to add controls separators?
Sometimes (not sometimes. Let' s sat "most of the cases") the controls can be separated in groups, depending on what they do or what part of the filter they work about. I sometimes add some "special control" (I connect a checkbox to an unused switch input plug) that has no practical use but that only describe the following controls. For example, if in a filter I have 10 controls working on a polygon, it may be good to collect them someway. I may add a checkbox control titled "---- Polygon Controls----" just before the first polygon control. This way I make easier for the users to understand that the following controls are about that polygon. Anyway this is clearly a waste. The maximum amount of controls that we can put in a filter is 100. If I add 20 description controls, it means that I cannot have more than 80 useful controls in my filter. Other times I put numbers. As "01 Polygon Size", "02 Polygon Size". But clearly it would be much better if we could simply add a separator. It could be simply a long line. Is it possible? It is something that most of the browsers do in the bookmarks field. We can add a link. We can add a folder. We can add a separator. |

Here you can see also how I separate the fields : "Background", "Circle 1", etc.
But even we had just a simple line, it would be ok. |

+1 This would be very useful, I've had many occasions where I wish I could "group" controls in some way. A simple comment line would probably be fine.

YES! Yes! Yes! this has been already requested to have a way to separate control in the filter since 2010, already 8 years ago, and never happened until now in August 2018
Although this would be really very useful, helpful and be really great to make better filters and more user friendly, it seems that this will not happen, at least soon, and may be have to way many years more. Although I really do not understand why is not included already, because as far as I know, is not nothing complex, just a simple line with text to separate controls, and even I would agree to have just one simple line without text. Another alternative to a separator is to be able to make groups inside the controls 2010 - User Interface > Organizational Components
2013 - Suggestion - FF Setting Categories
2015 - Component to add a line To separate and organize filters
2016 - Have a SEPARATOR component to separate settings when making filters

Please, would this be possible in FF 10?
I do not understand why something that seems to be very simple to do and that have been requested already since TEN years ago, is still not available It would really be really helpful and useful to be able to separate parts of the settings It could be just one line, it could whatever you want and think best. I think that the best thing would be probably as shown on the screenshot of the previous post above here that you can put a title text to make a group and tell what this part of the filter is about |

I do not understand why in already 10 YEARS since this was suggested is still not available, this should be really simple to add, is the same than the Checkbox, but without the checkbox mark that appears on settings.
I do not think that there is any technical problem adding this to the components So I wonder why is still not available? If this would be something that would need much code to do and would require much work I would understand it, but as said this is already done in the Checkbox control that you put the text you want and ONLY is needed to remove the Checkbox that appears in settings You then can be able to connect this new component to the Switch component and then use it in the Order of controls |
