I just bought a new computer with Windows 7. When I downloaded, then installed, the newest update for Filter Forge 3 I keep getting this message:
<class XFW::OSCallError> ::CreateFileW(file 'C:\Users\Shannon\AppData\Roaming\Filter Forge 3\System\CachedInfos.xml') failed with error code 0x00000005: Access is denied.
I have a license key but can never get that far into the install to enter it.
I LOVE Filter Forge, but it has ALWAYS been a nightmare trying to installing Filter Forge ... and getting help from customer service.
What do I need to do to get my beloved FF to work?

Just a guess here but....Right click on the installer and select "Run as Administrator" see if that works..... Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times!

If that doesn't work, what kind of antivirus are you using?
Could be that the security settings are too high.

I tried the "Run as Administrator," but it did the same thing. I did get two new error messages:
"Plugin passed bad parameters"
and
"Could not complete the FF3 command because of a problem with the filter module interface"
I am running McAfee. I looked in the firewall settings but I'm clueless. There was a couple of options, but I don't know which ones to use.
THANKS for helping ..CfandM and MorganTao

I don't know about McAfee, butmost antivirus programs have a Pause protection option. you could try pausing for a few minutes while you install FF.
Don't do anything else in the mean time, and turn the protection back on when the install is finished.
There should also be an option to exlude FF installed from the firewall and antivirus, or an option to add it to the trusted programs list (Sometimes called white list).
Hope that helps!

Digi333, please make sure the permissions for the 'C:\Users\Shannon\AppData\Roaming\Filter Forge 3\System\' folder are set to full access.

I went into my users/shannon.... folder and changed everything to allow permissions then I restarted the computer opened Paint Shop Pro 12 (same thing happens with Photoshop CS5) then tried the filter. I still got this message ....
<class XFW::OSCallError> ::CreateFileW(file 'C:\Users\Shannon\AppData\Roaming\Filter Forge 3\System\CachedInfos.xml') failed with error code 0x00000005: Access is denied.
I was going to buy the Standard edition today because of the 4 day sale, but I don't want to spend any more money if it will not work. I bought the basic, then bought the lifetime upgrade when they had that last year.

Digi333, please delete the C:\Users\Shannon\AppData\Roaming\Filter Forge 3\System\CachedInfos.xml file and try again.
