Comodo Internet Security, ZoneAlarm, Spyware PC Doctor, System Mechanic’s System Guard and PC Tools ThreatFire are known to be incompatible with all versions of Filter Forge. Most probably Filter Forge will silently exit when these programs are active.
Here's how to befriend Filter Forge and Comodo and allow Filter Forge to load properly:
1. Go to the Defense+ tab in CIS.
2. Select "Execution Control Settings".
3. Click on the "Exclusions" button.
4. Navigate to the FF2 (or FF3) folder on the left-hand window and move the "bin" folder to the exclusion panel on the right.
5. Add \* to the path, so that it looks like C:\Program Files (x86)\Filter Forge 3\Bin\*

Could someone please update this to reflect the latest version of Comodo Internet Security? I've been working for half an hour to get FF to run. No luck.

This is the upd ate for CIS Pro 2012:
1. Add Filter Forge to the trusted applications:
Go to the Defense+ tab, select Trusted Files > Add > Navigate to the FF3\bin folder and select it. Make sure all executable files in the bin folder have been added to the trusted list.
2. Deactivate Defense+:
Go to the Defense+ tab, select Defense+ se ttings and check the Deactivate the Defense+ permanently (requires restart) checkbox. After restart, Filter Forge should load properly.

Yes, I could deactivate. I could also uninstall it. But both "solutions" sort of defeat the purpose of having the app in the first place...

I think that this solution does not defeat the purpose of the security application, because this ONLY lets Filter Forge have free access to internet and is given as a trusted file.
Are you afraid that FF could download something you do not want, or could be a risk for your computer ?
BY using the trusted list ALL the other applications OUTSIDE the list will keep the same and you will still be protected.

I think it's step 2 that he's worried about... And yes, that seems absurd that you have to shut down your defenses for one software. They must be a way to let FF work along side Defense+.

Just wanted to drop a note and let the forum know that I was able to successfully launch FF3 as a standalone application while using Comodo Firewall WITHOUT fully disabling Defense+.
Here are the steps I took to achieve this... using Windows Vista FYI
1.) Open Comodo Firewall
2.) Click on 'Defense+'
3.) Choose 'Trusted Files'
4.) Click 'Add', Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Filter Forge 3\Bin, add ALL .exe files to the whitelist. Click 'Close'
5.) Choose 'Defense+ Settings'
6.) Choose 'Exclusion Control Settings' Tab, at the bottom of the pane, click 'Exclusions'.
7.) Click 'Add', Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Filter Forge 3\Bin, add ALL .exe files to the whitelist. Click 'Close'
8.) Close out of Comodo Firewall settings
9.) Launch FF3
10.) PROFIT.
