We're experiencing an unusually high traffic which means an increase in the server load. Please wait for the tide to fall

so glad i checked this post. just upgraded from FF1 to FF2 and thought i'd knackered it. unable to connect to server here aswell. i've been fiddling with my firewall and rebooting. seems like its nothing to do with my settings and is a server issue.
thats put my mind at rest. |

Broken here as well, which is annoying since I need a good cloth filter (to make a texture look like it's a rug) to finish today's project. btw, filterforge.net is reported as an untrusted site by Microsoft. I know it isn't, but that can't be helping this issue.

I have the same problem here, I obviously have internet connection, as I could not write this post if I did not have, but when trying to download a filter or check for update it tells me as Adu said:
Unable to connect to the server. Please make sure you are connected to the internet. ![]() BOTH FF 2.0 and 3.0 GIVE ERROR I have tried to use either FF 2.0 and FF 3.0 and with both is the same error that can´t connect to the server ![]() ALREADY CHECKED IN MY CONNECTION IN Tools > Options > Online. On both is put to Automatic WHAT IS THE SERVER WEBSITE ? IS DIFFERENT FROM FILTERFORGE.COM ? using the site that GMM has put to check server I put Is www.filterforge.com down for everyone or just me? And when clicking on the just me link it puts It's just you. http://www.filterforge.com is up. It is also obvious that the filterforge website is up and working because if not I would not be able to write this post. So, Is the server of filter forge in another different website ??? DOES THE WEBSITE CHECKING WORK RIGHT ? I tried also using this to check if: Is www.mymonkeyisout.com ![]() and the answer is It's not just you! http://www.mymonkeyisout.com looks down from here. I would really be surprised if it told me that www.mymonkeyisout.com was up !! ![]() |

Appalling support. My filter issues haven't been dealt with and also I now cannot download any new filters.
This great piece of kit is being let down by second rate support. Terrible |

I have found in this other thread
http://www.filterforge.com/forum/read...5&TID=6646 That the Library server is in filterforge.net so checking again Is www.filterforge.net down for everyone or just me? The answer is It's just you. http://www.filterforge.net is up ![]() Well, it can be up, but for some reason it can´t connect with the filter forge software. |

I have found another server check website
http://www.servercheck.me/ And it puts that www.filterforge.net is online, so it not down. ![]() SO perhaps the missing part is something in the connection between FF and server, I do not know. |

Yep, it's definitely broken. I emailed GMM, who ignored the question, and change my registration information instead. As expected, this served no useful purpose.

I'm having the same problem, but worse yet, I bought the pro version on the 60% discount and was charged $199 anyway since I couldn't opt out of a a CD version for $19.95 AND their "library backup" for another $19.95. So there was no discount, just misrepresentation. I wrote to support a few days ago asking for technical assistance with the photoshop filter and am still waiting for the answer, although I figured it out on my own.
Now this can't access the filters due to server issues, I'm wondering if FilterForge is a reputable company. Be the change you want to see. |

We will have to wait until someone fr om the Filter Forge team can cast some light about this and tell us why is happening this and wh ere is the error.
AND MOST IMPORTANT When is going to be solved in some way ? |

OK .. I may have found a solution!
I updated to FF2 today and was having the same server connection issue as described here. Im on Windows 7 64 bit with IE9. So on a hunch I clicked on the IE9 Compatibility View Icon (the broken page icon on the righ hand end of the address bar). Lo and behold .. the filters now download correctly and Updates work !! Give it a try! |

YES IT WORKED !!!
I have clicked on the IE9 compatibility view Icon AND SURPRISE IT DID WORK !!!!!! Starlight Thanks really very much for this help, you have solved the great mistery, and this in your first post !! By the way, welcome to the forum and congratulations for upgrading to FF 2.0 and hope that you keep helping us and to see from you here. I tried also with Google Chrome browser and it did not work SO THE REAL PROBLEM IS THE BROWSER ?????? ![]() Or is it that they have solved the problem already and is working right again ? I have tried to use the update option inside Filter Forge and it did NOT work, and I think that this have nothing to do with the browser, OR is Filter Forge DIRECTLY connected to the browser for everything ? Thanks again Starlight, you saved the day. |

Doesn't seem to be a workaround with Firefox.

I tried the "fix" and lol, it worked...
But I'm really curious now because I've had this installed for a couple weeks now and I'm still using the exact same browser and settings that I had upon installation... so what's the difference? |

I'm guessing ..that this was a result of Microsoft releasing 8 security vulnerability patches last Tuesday.
One of the patches in particular, "Vulnerability in MHTML Could Allow Information Disclosure (2544893)" probabaly effected the way that filter forges MHTML protocol filterforge:// was handled by the windows subsystem responsbile. Which would explain why it appears to have effected all browsers, and not just IE9. And also why it started on June 14th. Chrome and FF appear to redirect the filterforge MIME type back to the browser user, now asking that the User "enable cookies and click this link" (you will get this message whether you have cookies enabled or not, because the page is simply about to write a cookie that remembers whether or not you have verified the relationship between the filterforge:// protocol and the filterforge.exe application). After clicking the "enable cookies and click this link" link you will be taken back to the filter information page. But this time when you click Open this filter in filterforge, you will be asked by the browser to verify the .exe progam that will run the protocl. Just select Filter Forge (for firefox) or Accept the warning (for Chrome) and the filter will then proceed to download. |

ok, now I'm completely frustrated...
it was working as starlight explained how to get around the issue for I9... now this: "Filter Forge - Exception caught at thread 00001650'Application' <class XFW::OSCallError>::CreateMutexA(program mutex) failed with error code 0x00000005: Access is denied." Now what, lol? ![]() ![]() ![]() |
