I had trouble opening FF 2.0 recently so I uninstalled and tried to reinstall using my disk. All is fine until it reaches about 20% of the install process then freezes my system (mouse no longer functions, process stops). Thinking that there may be a problem with the CD/DVD drive or drivers I downloaded the latest FF. It stops at the same point during installation.

Windows 7/64 Ultimate. I also use System Mechanic for system "clean up".

Please disable your antivirus and try running the setup again.

Thanks for your suggestion. I closed the anti-virus and it made it past that point in the install process. At the end, however, when it is time to click "Finish", it freezes again.

To insure there wasn't something else running I installed SmartClose and ran it to close all unnecessary background apps. It froze again.
