Hi, I run windows 7 64bit and filterforge which used to work earlier has stopped working completely.
When I click on filterforge standalone, it just doesnt open... no process is being run, nada. This had worked when I purchased it during the release time, and I've never had to use it till now. *IMPORTANT* - I've tried all steps mentioned in this thread and it still doesn't work. http://www.filterforge.com/forum/read...#nav_start Please help. |

Do you run it as a plugin or as a standalone program?
Please download and reinstall the latest version from http://filterforge.com/download/ and try again. |

Hi GMM,
I'm running it as standalone. It's mentioned in the post mate. I've tried downloading it 4 times now. Just doesn't work. Regards |

That event log is there only once although I've tried running Filterforge and it hasn't a number of times before and after that log appeared.
note: FF runs in safe mode with networking but not in normal boot. |

you wouldn't by chance be running an external firewall that is blocking it?
I had updated a firewall app at one point and it began blocking Filterforge for some reason. There's a tread on the forum somewhere about it, just in case you have the same issue. Search for "FF was running but doesn't anymore firewall" I think it may be Comodo or some other. Hope that helps. Colin colin Fizgig |

IIRC, Comodo antivirus, AVG firewall and Spyware PC doctor may prevent Filter Forge from running.

Thank you cfree for the response, I've looked it up.. but it's still not working.
GMM: I've tried adding the FF exe's as safe on comodo and running as well as disabling the firewall completely. Neither of those lets me run, so I'm doubting it's because of the comodo firewall. |

Try to reboot in safe mode and run Filter Forge. If it launches successfully the issue is definitely caused by your antivirus/firewall/debugger/another software on your computer.

It works in safemode with networking as I've stated before. And I've disabled and uninstalled even the antivirus and firewall and there is no debugger.
I am guessing it's another software, but I don't know what. |

It's working!! Thanks to Victoria from Filter Forge support.
OK Here is the solution for anyone for future reference. It's specific to Comodo Firewall. Read below. > > To fix this issue and allow Filter Forge 2 to load properly, please do the following (I hope these steps are correct for your version of Comodo; if not, please contact the Comodo support for the step-by-step instructions): > > 1. Go to the Defense+ tab in CIS. > 2. Select "Execution Control Settings". > 3. Click on the "Exclusions" button. > 4. Navigate to the Filter Forge 2 folder on the left-hand window and move the "Bin" > folder to the exclusion panel on the right. > 5. Apply this change -- Filter Forge should run after this. |
