When I open the ff editor, it runs maximized. I do not think it ever used to do this and I don't like it. I am sure I am overlooking a simple setting but I have not been able to find where to change it back. Does anyone know how to change it back to normal?
Thanks,
Ron @ronviers

Ok. Now I do not know what I did, but it stopped doing it. I put up with that for days and now it just stopped.
Sorry. @ronviers

normally, you can just hit the max and min buttons up in the top, right corner. if you toggle the middle button to not maximize, you shld be able to put the editor window at whatever size you want. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

You might not think I would get stressed out about moving my arm two and a half inches, but you would be wrong - it bugs the hell out of me when windows get attached to the edges. But it is working again - I just have to let it go.

I just learned how to fix this.....it's a "windows" thing.....open one program window, then open a second program window on top of it, manually size the second program window to the size window you want programs to open up in, then close the first progam followed by the second from the taskbar.....and all programs will now open to the size that you set the second program before you closed it...... I thought windows sizing only transferred between instances of apps, not across separate apps. I think you must be right about this because I tried exiting ff after closing the editor where I wanted it, but when I re-entered ff, it maximized it again. Things take place along all the edges of each monitor, so it's an infernal nuisance to have things maximized. @ronviers

Well, the usual way to do it is to right click desktop icon \ Properties \ Run: .....choose the size you want the window to open in.....then apply. Alot of "cleaning" programs will wipe out the "remember last opened size" folder \ advanced option.....so it ends up getting changed, reverting to default size, etc..... Steve

The problem I have been having lately is that it runs in the normal mode but at the wrong size. So I open the editor and have to resize it each time. How do I make it remember the size I want it to be? @ronviers

Here are all the options that I know of....
1) Open Explorer.....Tools (menu) \ Folder Options \ View (tab) \ check "Rember each folder's view settings".....apply....
2) If #1 doesn't work, then....

windows has always given me problems with, especially interenet explorer. what i do any more is simply persist and windows finally allows it, whatever, after a while. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Never ever ever will I get a Mac.....for basically the same reason why I won't go to Vista. Relatively no compatability issues exist with XP.....there's no advantages to a Mac over a PC.....and there will always be much more "available" for a PC than there will ever be for a Mac. Not to say that a Mac is bad.....but PC is just a better\more advantageous way to go.....thus it's lion's share of the computer market.....
I expect that Mac users will soon descend upon this comment and try to shred me to bits..... LOL..... Steve

steve,
as an artist, just for a whim, go find a mac store and test em out. talk to the salesperson and ask a ton of questions. you might, could just possibly, in the slightest way, even maybe a little, just the tiniest bit, be somewhat, mildly impressed with at least parts of the mac. i almost bought one last time i was in If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

I would buy one if I could afford it. But it would not just be the initial outlay, there would be all kinds of costs associated with making the switch. @ronviers

I have checked out the Macs and they are nice .....but all the extra programming "garbage" with windows really isn't an issue anymore with how hardware (CPUs, multiple cores, RAM, graphics cards, etc) has progressed.....so it all comes down to compatability and options.....and XP is the clear choice in that regard, IMHO..... There is supposed to be a new windows shipping around July. I think they are just rebranding Vista. @ronviers

what i hear, ron, is that that is called 'windows 7'. and, it's supposedly a stripped down vista, at least in the early beta versions (which are out there). but, i heard recently, that they (MS) is now starting to add back some of the vista features, so, who knows If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Other companies make their new versions do something important that the previous versions didn't do - maybe they should try that. Can't really blame them, XP was released at the end of 2001, so they have only had seven years to come up with new ideas. @ronviers

hehe, yes, only seven years. what they could maybe come up with that would be new is a stable operating system. lol. gotta love the Mac commercials frankly, vista shld have never been built. all they had to do was take XP and fix it and expand it a bit. i'd have been happy as a clam had they done so. but, for some reason, MS thinks they have to completely re-write the system every three to five years. it's pretty insane and we never end up with a stable system where our old software continues to work. and the only reason i can see for MS to do it the way they do is greed. bah!
