Hi everyone,

I'm going to upgrate to a new PC with more RAM and a 64bit OS,
Vista 64 home premium.

Does anyone know if filterforge will work fine with Vista64 and
all the filterfiles, created in 32bit Windows XP?

Thank you!
regards, rilos

rilos,

generally speaking, anything that works in 32 bit will work in 64 bit. it's the other way around that gives problems smile:)

but, to specifically answer your question, i dont know for sure.

It works, I used to work under XP, I now work under Vista 64k, and there was no problem when I moved my whole working Filters from XP to Vista.

Cats have never forgotten this.
And rightly so.

Thank you for your answers.

Ok, I think it works as a 32bit-software on a 64bit machine, but it doesnt take
advantage of the full power of the 64bits, right?

@Miavir: what folders / files did you copy from the old 32bit machine to the new one and where did you put the folders in Vista64 ?

I always have the problems that I cant find all the folders with my downloaded filters any more, also the own created folders. I know there is some index-file generated from ff where it handels all the links to the filters and their thumbs.

Thanks in advance!

my understanding of 32 bit software running in 64 bit hardware is that you wont see any improvement in performance over running 32 bit in 32 bit. but, with a 64 bit o/s and 32 bit software, i'm not sure. you might see a marginal improvement just because windows is 64 bit running on 64 bit.

Select a filter in Filter Forge and press Ctrl+L. The folder with your filters will open in Explorer.
