Hello people
Im having serious crashes when i import filters from the site into FF
I goes wel for a while ..but many times windows crashes and the PC resets
After that all i have left in FF is "my filters" all other maps etc are gone
When i loacate them and try to use the filter i need to connect to the site "here"
And the folder structure needs to be rebuild etc etc..
This is a serious pain in the S ...
Because the work im working on at the time of the crash is lost every time..
Anybody knows how to fix this..
Thnx

what o/s are you using?
what type of crash are you getting? is it a 'blue screen of death' type where you actually see the blue screen and the pc reboots completely or something else?
does the pc do this with any other program or software?
if it is crashing with blue screen reboot, do you get any messages when the pc reboots back into windows? or do you get any advisories from microsoft about what's going on?

hi chris,
ok, just had to check some of the basics. sounded like a harddrive going bad... sort of, except the hard crashes shld have happened on more than just FF. so, oh well.
have you tried an uninstall and reinstall of FF? could be something corrupted. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

yeah reinstalled it even on a second system with XP home...
And it went great for a while..
But when i got a filter from the site POOOF full reboot crash..
it has something to do with memory and the way the filter gets "installed"
I got a message from MS "windows" recovered from a serious error...
and a lot of memory adresses in the INFO ...
So the link to the site and memory alocation on the systems makes windows crash..
Is there a other way to download them filters ?
Btw i have it IN Photoshop and stand alone version...
Thnx again

i use the old method to download. go to 'tools -> options' and pick the 'online' tab. in the 'download more filters' option, pick the last of the two items, the one that says 'use the built in library browser (obsolete)'. that's the original way to download the filters and i prefer it. you can also look in tools > options for the slider for increasing the amount of ram FF uses. also, check to make sure you've got plenty of ram in your windows virtual ram swap file and that you have plenty of available space for it on your C: drive.
