While fixing some rather elusive texture discontinuities on my 'Roofing Shingles' filter, I came across what looks like a "shortcoming" of the 'wave' curve component: it is missing a 'Periodic' option like the one found on the 'noise' curve component.
To be more precise, once the 'A-Variance' or 'F-Variance' parameters are set to any non-zero value, the wave components' output becomes non-periodic: it creates visible seams if fed into a profile gradient, for example. Looks like undesireable behaviour to me... ![]() So, in my 'Roofing Shingles' filter, I had to blend the wave curve with a reversed version of itself to make it periodic again... ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

Not only that, it also becomes non-periodic when you use non-integer frequencies, like 1.2 or 5.3. The curve is inherently non-periodic and there's simply no way to make it periodic other than using dumb edge-blending or restricting frequencies to integers. |

Ah well... I'll take that as an indication that there won't be a 'periodic' option for the Wave Curve component.

So much for my promising flame filter...
![]() ![]() (I realize this is only an issue for tiled images but it's still annoying) |

I actually had to change my sound wave filter so that you can only chose integers for the period of the wave, not bad but yeah, annoying.

Ah sweet, I was just going to post about this.
I was afraid I was going to have to do math! |

Not very good yet, but as long as you keep the wave's period as an integer it works. Just add some distortions and you got it.

Bump. This is still annoying.
