The bits for the bit workers

Hi!
I've got a problem.
A while ago the program crashed when saving a filter I was working on.
This error happened, maybe, because I saved a second time changing the filter's name, without waiting for the program to breathe and ponder about life and the universe.
I lost both old and new copies of the filter, which put me in a bad mood for a whole week.
Since that day I get an error message every time I open FF: "Cannot load 'Planets_ Terran3.ffxml' - the file format is invalid'".

Is the filter lost for good?
What can I do to stop getting this annoying error message?

Thank you

Look for the crashed file in your My Filters folder. Mine is under: "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Filter Forge\My Filters". If the file has a size of 0kb, then I'm pretty sure it's lost. If the file is bigger than 0kb, someone with programmer knowledge might be able to fix it (but I definitely couldn't). IF you move or delete the file, you'll probably not get the annoying error messages again.

This might be a different problem, but I'll mention it anyway.
There seems to still be a bug that FF hasn't been able to fix -- where it runs out of resource space, gives and error message and you end up losing the filter you were working on. So it's good to have a back up of your filter(s) somewhere. Some people habitually make a copy of there "My Filters" folder. I often save the filter I'm working on under two different names (one is the main one I use and the second is there as a back-up).
I think this error seems to occur less often if you don't have FF open for long periods of time. When it does happen, it seems like it is more likely to happen again soon too -- where I can't remember what I did that made it go away more permanently. But it hasn't happened to me for a long while (mainly because I'm being less intensive with FF as of late).

Thank you very much, ssamm.
I don't find my files because, may be, I have a trial version smile:( smile;)

I'm pretty sure the trial version still stores the filters somewhere. Maybe try doing a "search" (from the Start menu) for the "My Filters" folder -- or a search for that corrupt file itself. The folder's address for you is probably not exactly "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Filter Forge\My Filters" -- where most likely the "Owner" folder has a different name...
Hmmm, good luck. I know that error message can be annoying if you can't get rid of it.

Trial version stores filter files in exactly the same way the full version does.

Nope, it's hidden.....so search/type in this path manually.....
