I cannot download any new filters as the program kicks up the error message:
Unable to connect to the server. Please make sure you are connected to the Internet.

I have read other posts on this and am fairly tech savy.
I connect through a router to the net and opened up the port 443 as mentioned both TCP and UDP.
Created exceptions on my firewall and even turned it off completely.
Tried direct connect.
I don't use a proxy so that wouldn't work.
Tried the built in browser (same message appears).
Can connect to https://filterforge.net/ in firefox (although a certifcate warning appears.)

Am completely confounded as to what the problem could be.

Gurrilla, please try the following:

1. Try to connect to https://filterforge.net/ through Internet Explorer. Does it connect?

2. Look up your connection settings in FireFox. Here's where to look for them:
Tools > Options > Advanced > Network tab > Settings button.
Copy the settings to Filter Forge, or tell us what the settings are.

3. Look up your connection settings in Internet Explorer:
Tools > Internet Options > Connections tab > LAN Settings button.
Again, tell us what the settings are.

Also, the developers recommend that you check your router's port mapping settings.

I have the exact same problem as Gurilla, and I can't find a real solution anywhere...

1. Firefox connects (with a white page saying "Hello") Explorer does not.

2. My settings in Firefox is Direct connection.

3. My settings in Explorer is also Direct connection (automatic).

I don't have a wireless router, and I don't know how to check router's port mapping settings.

Please help?

Bella,

It seems to be a general problem at the moment - take a look at the last three threads in this forum. Can't be wrong user setup with so many users smile;)

Sphinxmorpher,

Look at the date of my previous post in this thread smile;) It used to be a problem with user settings. At the moment, yes, looks like we are having a general problem with server connections.

Waiting for the web programmer to come and sort it out...

Hello Bella, your last post of this thread is from December 3, 2007 3:55 am

More than 14 years after I encounter the same problem, tried many manipulations on a fresh install of Windows 10, the connection is going well anywhere and was perfect before my SSD format.

Did I miss something ?

Have a nice day.

Well, having an issue once in 14 years doesn't look bad to me smile:)

As Bella said, please open http://filterforge.net in your browser.
You should see the "Forbidden: Access is denied" message, this is the normal response of the library server.

On the other hand, if you see something like "This site can’t be reached" this means your computer has no route to the library server. This kind of problem would be with your router or on your ISP side, and you'd need to contact your ISP with that.

I have been on this problem until it makes me sick (2 months)

Here a solution that I just found, in a way GMM, I have a debt with you because you made me so angry that I explored another possibilities.

1- First put FF10 on the Withe List of your fire wall.
2- Once FF 10 is launched go to option and set green part as highlited in green.

Now it works perfectly, thank you for nothing BTW.
