Hours ago I downloaded FF to reinstall and was told that I don't have at least WinNT:
![]() but I really do... see System Properties ![]() RegMon shows FF setup wrapper queries the registry and finds WinNT ![]() the installer queries- and finds WinNT too ![]() checking for version number http://technet2.microsoft.com/windows...x?mfr=true ..we get the correct result for XP Do I really need to enable compatibility mode for setup? Because I have never needed it before ![]() ![]() .. |

wow.. that's annoying.. the forum severely downsized the images. Here all six PNGs
http://rapidshare.com/files/30668729/...9.rar.html -or- http://www.sendspace.com/file/mbgjzy (ZIP'd) FF setup also looks here for OS version info.. see it really is XP SP2 ![]() The last time I installed FF I was using SP1.. surely SP2 is not the issue.. My planned work-around is to install FF to a virtual machine, capture the registry settings, import them here. I don't have the patience- or time to perform a clean install of XP SP2 right now.. or really anytime soon. I'm not having problems installing otherwise: I just upgraded to Thunderbird 2 without issue. I have a malware-free, stable system. .. |

Apologies for troubling you with this. One fresh install of XP Pro SP2 cleared up the issue. Let's lay the blame on a botched SP2 "upgrade" shall we?
![]() FF is a curiously addictive time sink. .. |
