I'm running Photoshop CS 2 (version 9.0.1), Win XP Pro SP2. In the Filter menu, the Filter Forge entry appears as it should, but when I try to start it, it freezes Photoshop. After a look in the Task manager it says that the process "Filter Forge x86.exe" is taking up all the CPU.

After ending that process I get the following error message back in Photoshop CS 2:

"Could not complete the Filter Forge command because of a problem with the filter module interface."

Computer specs:
AMD 64 3500+
2048 ram

The stand-alone version works just fine (although it shut down earlier, but I forgot to check the error message. A log file would be nice.

Filter Forge has a log file and shows its contents in the bug report form which you see when you click "Generate Bug Report". If you don't want to send it, just use it as a viewer of the log file.

Where does I find this log file? When it crashed at another point, I got the dialouge popup to generate a bug report, but I couldn't view it. It just dissapeared.

AMD math work-around.

You can get a super-tweaking program called "Xteq" (do a net search). It is a freebie that fixes various bugs in all versions of windows, plus generally screws a lot more out of any computer/OS.

From around Xteq version 6.4 (7x these days), there has been a module (selection category) to address CPU tweaks/problems, and within that is a 'fix' for AMD CPUs graphics handlers under 2K/XP (Nt4/5).

Xteq has a search function, if you cannot find it. Just type-in "AMD", and look for the AMD-CPU fix. Tick it and rebbot your system.

Cheers,

Rixx
