well, our old friend seems to be back. havent seen this one in a while.

i was working on ronviers snippet where he was asking for help with his filter posted in a thread here on the forums. the filter had 6 tile components, three of which had sliders plugged into the repeat h and repeat v inputs, giving the little error symbol on the inputs.

i played around with this filter in the editor trying to find a fix for his problem. i didnt find one but did notice that my mouse was getting 'jumpy' and sticky. eventually, i quit out of the editor portion and left FF idle. i then went back (after reading more in the forums) and wanted to look at another filter. this one is supposed to be in the 'photo' category, so i clicked on that category and started to scroll through the filters to find it. FF locked up and gave me the following bug report plus 64 more! after clicking 'generate bug report' 65 times, these finally stopped and FF finished shutting down without generating an actual browser event to send in the reports.

this is the second time i've had this happen in the GUI when clicking on a filter category and looking for other filters (the other time was over a month ago).

summary: work in the editor until mouse gets 'sticky'. exit editor to the GUI. click on a filter category in the GUI. scroll the filter list. lockup, bug report of 65 various bug numbers reported and no browser event generated.

speculation: this looks like the windows resource bug.

additional: installed; windows xp home. net 1.1. internet explorer 7. AVG anti-virus running. zone alarm running. win patrol running. windows xp service pack two. windows security alerts running. i.e. 7 running in the background.

I have had exactly those issues. I even got a windows resources error when I tried to load an image from a mapped drive.

I experience the sticky mouse thing... my first thought was that my video card was perhaps overheating... or it was with windows, you know, every problem is first blamed on windows for good reason...errrmm...

anyway, I haven't experienced (to my recollection) that issue while running FF in windows 2K. I'm thinking it's FF with XP video drivers?

I think this is a common bug, but since it's so non-specific and doesn't generate any errors... It just brings the App to the point where it's unusable, then when you quit and restart. Everything gets better.

This happened again last night. WinXP. I actually got an error message this time 'windows resources not available' I clicked to send a bug report but since there wasn't enough 'windows resources' available THAT crashed too. smile:(

Usually this happens when I've done a lot of work on a filter then click the 'save filter' button. In this case I lost an ENTIRE filter. sucky

Next time I'll use that... umm. what did you call it? Pen. yeah.. I'll use a pen and write it down.

smile:)
