IntSlider settings

The impression I got from looking at IntSlider the first time is it allows the user to set a limit on how high the user can set the slider. And it does do this, by limiting what number I can slide up to. But it also compresses and expands value of each step. For example, if I set Gaussian Blur to only go to 50 and test the value of a setting of 2 -- then reset the IntSlider to go up to 200, and test the value of 2. The value of 2 has become lower. This can get very confusing when trying to build a feature. Because then I have to run many tests on different top settings to figure out how to get the value of 1 or 2 to be reasonable.
