Whenever I try to apply a filter to a selected area, it applies it to an offset area in the shape of the selection. The preview shows it offset even though there isn't that much room on the canvas, and when applied it is still offset but runs off of the edge of the canvas. I am using affinisty photo and in this example only have one layer that the image is on.

What filter is it?. I know it just can't remember the name. Could be a setting in the filter or one of the components need a setting changed.
Sometimes when you use a certain filter with the selection that is not designed with a selection in mind things get kinda weird without some
editor intervention. ie you would need to alter the filter for your own needs.

Update...Found the filter and I have no issues with it. But I am using Photoshop with filter forge.

It happens with any filter, I just used that one for the example because it was easier to see where it was applying it.

I checked in photoshop and in affinity with other files, and it does seem to only be happening with files saved as affinity files. It also seems to offset it more if is use Select>Alpha Range as opposed to just using a selection brush (still offsets, just not as much).

I guess I will just use other file types for now, but I'm still curious why affinity files and filter forge would interact in this way.

That is odd. I am not an affinity user so I can't answer that one. I think there was other affinity users here at one time so maybe they will see this and weigh in..

nervelli, welcome to the forums and thanks for your report.

We forwarded your issue to the Affinity developers and surprisingly received a quick reply:

We believe this may be caused by a document that uses Bleed. We have tested this using Affinity Designer to create a document with Bleed which we have then opened with Affinity Photo. Creating a selection leads to the filter appearing vastly offset. Can you please get back to your customer and ask them if they have Bleed set on a document. If not, is it possible to get a copy of their document so we can investigate further?

I have no idea what Bleed is smile:) If you have it enabled, please turn it off; if you don't - please send your document to the support team.
