I had Filter Forge V6 & V7 installed and working under PaintShop Pro 2018, 2019, and earlier versions of PSP (X2, X5, X9, X10, X11), for both 32b and 64b versions of PSP.
I finally decided to uninstall all versions of PSP older than PSP 2018 & 2019.
Now, when I launch the Filter Forge plugin, I receive the following error from PSP: "Unable to load the requested plug-in filter. The plug-in may not be installed properly or may be missing files. (Plugin: Filter Forge 6.8bf)". The message is repeated for FF V7, with only the filter name changed (to Filter Forge 7.8bf).
I uninstalled and reinstalled FF V6 & V7, and got the same results.
I uninstalled and reinstalled PSP 2018, 2019, then FF V6/7, and got the same results. 32b and 64b versions of PSP and FF were installed. I also ensured the FF plug-ins were referenced properly in PSP File Locations settings.
The stand-alone FF program for V6 & V7 still work properly.
Anyone have any thoughts as to what might be going on?
Also, how can FF be uninstalled completely, so that when I reinstall, I have to supply the license key?
When I uninstalled and reinstalled FF, it never asked for the license key, so that tells me that not all FF related files or registry entries were removed.
If I can get a clean "new" FF installation and the problem persists, then I have another data point that it might be an issue with the host program. (I reinstalled PSP X8 and the FF plugin still does not work.)

This is a very possible cause: if you define the plugin location manually it is likely to fail. Try removing all references to FF in the PSP settings, then reinstall the latest FF version from the download page, and follow the setup wizard that will prompt you to install a PSP plugin.

In case this is still an issue, I've had the same problems w/ almost every version of Filter Forge and PSP, and am again w/ PSPU v 2019. I was sent a solution a long time ago that has worked to get the 64B version working, but not the 32B. I'm still fiddling. The solution was this:

Please try the following:
1. Go to the Filter Forge folder in the Plugins folder of your PSP.
2. Find the Filter Forge.config file.
3. Open the file.
4. In the IndependentUI line, if the value is false, change it manually to true.
5. Save the changes in the file and try running the Filter Forge plugin again -- this might help.

Again, that worked for the 64B version, not the 32B. And yes, I use both because many of my old plugins don't work w/ the 64B version. Also, I am using Windows 10 (I hate it), so I had to put the FF 64B plugin the PSP Plugins folder under Programs. I tried putting the 32B plugin (modified and original) in both the Programs (x86) plugins folder and the User plugins folder, AND I made sure the setup pointed to all three locations. No joy so far.
BL: I can use FF, but only w/ 64B PSPU2019. If anyone knows how to fix this I'd really love to hear it. I hope this helps.
Cheers
