I'm sure this problem isn't with the program itself, but with windows 10, but I'm not sure how to fix it. I'm using Chrome, and I have cookies enabled. Every time I try to download a filter, I get the following:

How do I get windows (or whatever) to recognize the program?

I re-installed Filter Forge on a different hard-drive, and that seemed to have done the trick. Odd, but I'll take it.

Its not Filter Forge for sure....Its the way that Windows10 handles the file associations and what Default App to use....Its most likely set to the app store for the FFXML file type....

I just installed over the top of my existing copy and now it works. I think mine died when I did the recent Win10 major update...I think it got rid of the FFXML file link.

Firefox attempts to open up 7.0 filters using my 6.0 installation when I have 7.0 installed as well. How do I get Firefox to point to 7.0? BTW, it only opens 7.0 and downloads filters to it when my 7.0 installation is open.

Why should I have to do that? I guess, in order for me to download and use FF7 filters, I'll have to have FF7 open. Anything else is a waste of my time. This sounds like either a bug in FF7 or a settings issue with the browser. Someone can do better with an explanation or a fix.

PayPaul, The last time I had an issue exactly like this I discovered it was my firewall that had messed something up with the download. I disabled my fire wall until I reinstalled FF, then enabled my firewall again. The program worked fine after that. Give it a try.

It's the system not handling the file associations. Very typical Windows thing.

Indeed very annoying - this problem keeps surfacing here. It may be Windows "fault", but they're not going to change that.
