I upgraded to FF 5.009. When I use the plugin in photoshop, or the app as a standalone, the image that I am trying to save after adding a filter, does not render, or only renders partially. Does anyone have solution to correct this problem? I have reinstalled and that does not work either.

What do you mean it only renders "partially", can you post an example jpg ?

Well, I would provide an example, but, like I said, the image doesn't render. By partially I mean that the progress bar goes to about 25% and then just stops.

It's fine, just takes longer. The 'progress bar' works about as good as it does in most programs, or in other words it's useless and means nothing ha-ha.

Can anyone give me a more substantial answer? FF 5 is not rendering an image, Period.

What size were you rendering, using what filter, and how long did you wait ? Each filter is different and the larger the render the longer it takes, between those 2 variables waiting an hour or more is not at all unheard of.

Hello, I think you have not given enough information to be able to help you

1 - What filter you are using?

2 - Does it render partially only with this filter, or it happens with any other filter?

3 - Can you preview correctly the 600x600 reduced image result?

4 - What resolution and size in pixels you want to render the result?

5 - What computer are you using ? i mean what are the specifications and power of it

6 - Does it happen with any image source, or with some specific ones?

7 - does it have the default configuration or you have modified it?

8 - how much times for this 25% you are telling?

The speed of render is variable depending on the filter, but it seems that you say that it stops and then does not continue, so I want to know if this is for any filter, and any source image, and always happens the same, or how it happens

1. I have used several different filters, ie. Paint hdrtist, watercolor painting, ethereal photo effect.
2. Happens with any of the other filters.
3. Preview is not a problem.
4. Not sure
5. Dell 3000 series with AMD 6 6310 APU with radeon R4 Graphics at 1.8ghz, 8gb RAM, 64 bit Windows 10
6. Happens with any image I try to apply filter to.
7. Default Config.
8. 25% in maybe 7 minutes, then nothing further.

Thanks

25% after 7 minutes to render a 600 X 600 (default size) image ? That's pushing it, but reasonable, and the 25% progress bar is just wrong/pointless as it usually is in all applications.

It might take 15-25 mins, but it's working, check your task manager, I'm betting FF is running at 60%-90%, which means everything is working fine. You just have to wait. The 'price' in exchange for all that FF does, is that it's not an optimized one-effect kind of filter = it takes time to render out, there's just no way around it sometimes.

If you are not able to render any image with any filter, then clearly this is not an issue with the progress bar. Even with your slower (than mine) CPU, 7 minutes is much too long for fast filters and small images.

You said that you can view the reduced size preview without a problem. SpaceRay asked in #4 what size image are you rendering, in pixels? Are you only trying very large images? Some photos fr om cameras can be pretty large in pixels. Filter Forge has been known to sometimes have trouble rendering very large images (there are topics on this somewh ere on these forums).

Can you render small images, like 600x600 pixels or less?

Have you used previous versions of Filter Forge? Did you have problems with them? (you said you upgraded)

Try contacting support also, if you didn't already.

As said by Indigo Ray, If you are not able to render any image with any filter, then clearly this is not an issue with the progress bar or time taken to render the image

ABOUT RESOLUTION SIZE you answered 4 - not sure

You do not know at what resolution and size you are going to render the final result?

If you don know, Well for this there is two options

1 - you define and put yourself the size in the New Image menu if there is no source image loaded that will be used with the filter

2 - you are using a source image that will be modified by the FF filter and so the resolution size will be the same resolution as this source image has, and I think that from the answer on point 6, this is the one you are using.

UPGRADED TO 5.09

You have told that you upgraded to the last version, and I suppose is from version 4, so I would recommend to uninstall FF completely and remove also the additional data, and reinstall FF 5 as a clean new installation.

i think that maybe you may have a problem that may be solved doing this

Can you render small images, like 600x600 pixels or less?

This question from Indigo Ray is good, and this should be done without using any source image from you, you should any of the built in images, or any filter that does not require a source image to work

Fsylvis, please do the following:

- Open Filter Forge in the standalone mode;
- Select File > Built-In Preview Images > (any option);
- Open this filter;
- Click Save Image As and report here how long the render takes.

I think that what is weird with this problem is not that FF may be slow rendering, is that it STOPS at 25% and does not continue rendering.
