I've been experiencing very frequent site access problems lately over the past day or two.....not loading at all or getting the "site down for maintenance" message.....when all other net access is fine..... smile:?:

same here, only for about a week or so. sometimes it only lasts for a second and sometimes a bit longer. lately, i've been able to get around it by going to another site after the notice page comes up and then coming straight back to filterforge.com. and it's very irregular. never quite know when it's going to hit.

Yup, I'm getting 'Service temporarily unavailable' every now and then. This annoyance has been around for about two weeks, IIRC.

Same here, ever since they released FF and all those pesky customers and even worse, potential customers, started logging in and messing things up. smile:p Actually, I don't recall the FF website ever just totally working for 24 hours straight ha-ha, ever.

Last week we've set up 3 kinds of limitations for the web-server access:

1. No more than X requests per second from the same IP are allowed. After this limit is exceeded, the web-server shows you the 503 error. The "Request" term includes pages, images, css, javascripts, setup files download etc. X is rather large, it's much more than 1 smile:D

2. No more than Y simultaneuos connections from the same IP are allowed. It will make your download managers to use no more than Y sections at the same time. If you are behind the NAT or InternetConnectionSharing or whatever and have the same external IP as other users from your LAN have, you may experience inconvenience, when all of you try to access the site - 503:( We'are working on how to overcome this. The Y parameter is reasonably high too smile;-)

3. Speed is limited to Z KB/sec for all the connections from the same IP (total). Z is the same constant for all the visitors. Z is equal to 1024 at the present time. Z will be increased after server upgrade.

The reason to set up the limitations above was to eliminate DOS-attacks and users who tries to download the setups with few hundreds (!!!) simultaneous connections...ta dam...by modem (56KBit/sec max) smile;-) It's not a joke, unfortunately, we've got such a visitor last week. These connections were long-live and there were too few connections left to serve normal visitors. We had to ban this user by its IP manually.

After we get some statistics on these limitations, we will relax them as much as possible. Sorry for the temporary inconvenience.

PS
Please, keep posting in this topic about how often you have the 503, it will help us make X, Y and Z as large as possible smile;-)

1. Your emails are never showning to anyone on the site or somewhere else and never were. You only show your real email, when send a PM to someone on the site.

2. Your IPs are never showing to visitors on the site and never were.

3. About traffic limitations. The limitation module we use is still in tuning smile:evil: so limitations are almost invisible to most of the site visitors. We hope to finish this smile:hammer: tuning next week. One more sorry for inconvenience we bring to you smile:(.

The reason I asked is from that "bombardment" problem you mentioned.....and I'm getting some very strange IP conflicts that are coinciding with your problems.....but I'm pretty sure that is on my end.....just can't figure out where it's coming from..... smile:|

You can send PM by clicking "E-mail" link in this forum or in user's profile.

When you send a PM from this site, your addressee receives a letter with your email address as an email from which this letter came.

thanks, zz. so, it's really an email, not a PM... technically. pm's, the way i'm used to thinking of them, do not send an email. the message remains sent via and received ON the forum system. as an example, in a forum like vBulletin, you send a pm to someone and they receive it while in that vBulletin forum through the forum system, not through email. but ok, i understand.

No, this isn't related to access problems. The submissions person was out sick, so the filters submitted Friday to Monday were reviewed today (Tuesday), not on Monday as usual.

the trick to having it remember your sign-in is to click the 'remember me', then double click your name and it will fill in your password for you when you cick there. i think that's how i do it.
