I would greatly appreciate if FF would not access my computer without my permission, block access to the program, and force me to upd ate the program anymore... There is absolutely no reason to force people to update the program...especially a beta version from which no filters can be submitted anyways...

I'm upset about this because I needed to use FF the other night with no intention of checking for updates, my access to the program was blocked without having the program se t to check for updates, the update was corrupt and issued without being tested first, and I was left with no access to the program for three days...when the version that I had was working perfectly fine...

If there is some reason for blocking the program and forcing updates, I would really like to know what it is...because I can not see any reason for it...and I have never encountered any program that forces updates in this "intrusive" manner??? smile:?:

There is little to be said about this:

We never access your computer without your permission.
Using a beta software in a production environment is a bad idea.
There is a reason for beta versions to expire.
There is a reason for us not to disclose all the details.

I think that when you agree to download and install the beta, you must also agree that this beta will expire and be blocked once the new beta has been released (or the final version), and so I think that if you do not agree with this terms of use you should not install and use the beta, as FF will not change the way they make it.

And this is not only on FF, I have seen this also on other companies, not everyone does it in the same way, as some instead of blocking the old beta, have a time date deadline, or any other way but anyway the old beta becomes unusable.

Perhaps what is wrong in FF is that they do not give any warning about when they are going to release the next beta or final version, they do it by surprise. I know that they probably can´t tell an exactly date of expiration, but perhaps two days before could give a warning that very soon or an exact day the beta will expire and be blocked.

I agree that FF have their reasons not to disclose all the details on why they do it this way.

GMM, to the contrary, my computer was accessed and the program blocked without my permission (same with everyone)...my options were set to "don't ask or check" for updates...and it was purely a beta update and not a beta expiration since my license carried with the update... Guess I need to uncheck FF's firewall exception when I'm not downloading filters...and wait for update feedback in forum before installing updates... smile:?:

I see your point. In future versions we'll post a notification somewhere that betas might expire unexpectedly.
