downloaded a filter and it defaultly opened in ff3 but wanted to use it in ff2 so manualy moved it to ff2. Ff2 then warned that I needed a later version to open filter, I chuck the filter in the bin and re-downloaded the filter directly into ff2, no worries it's there and works ...... but the warning that ff can't open it still appears every time I open FF

I'd recommend you do this instead.
You can delete %APPDATA%\Filter Forge 2\System\LibraryStructure.xml. If you do, expect to get 'Getting list of filters' for quite a long time at the next program run. |
