Hello,

I am attempting to update to the latest version of Filter Forge, however, as soon as I run the "Filter Forge Setup.exe" I get an error dialog stating:

"The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program."

smile:?:

I have downloaded several times now (from the standard beta download page on this site), using several different browsers and saving the file to different locations (just in case), but the error is always the same.

Any ideas on what would cause this and how I can get past it?

Thanks!

Brittnell, which browsers/downloaders did you use?

From my laptop:
I used both Firefox (v1.5.0.6) and IE (v6.0.2900.2180).
I tried both from work and home over the span of several hours.
Using Windows XP Pro.

That said, I just tried from a totally different machine, and it seems to have worked fine.
I'm not sure what was causing it to get corrupted... Maybe my laptop's firewall software? Weird.

Anyhow, thanks for the response. The issue seems to be system-specific, so I think you can rest easily.

Cheers!

No offense, but could your laptop be infected? Installer checks the archive checksum, and fails if file is modified.

Hmmm... I guess nothing is impossible, but I would be surprised if it were, as I'm using antivirus software as well as hardware and software firewall.

Thanks for sparking my paranoia though... smile;) Now I've got to do a full system scan!

smile:D

Wish me luck,

Sounds absolutely normal -- Firefox/XP and IE/XP are most popular browser/platform combos these days and the site has been working fine with these so far. (I use Firefox/XP myself and had no problems), so I second onyX's advice regarding viruses.
