I've been encountering frequent site access failures, freeze-ups, and slowing funtionality lately.....while having no other internet problems.....so something is definitely going on with the FF site. These problems seem to be getting worse every day.....

I too have been having problems [ what Steve has ] including recently when trying to use a quote in the forum it wipes out the message I've written. Separately I presume that at 5.30 p.m. my time you do your 15 minutes maintenance as I'm always frozen out or can't post if I'm in the forum - that is no drama if that is what it is.

2:30 CDT is the exactly time when our server starts backup procedures.

Could you please tell us the time of the day when it usually happens?
Space... it seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and a gorilla starts throwing barrels at you.

The worst period is between 12:00 AM - 6:00 AM EST......and doesn't seem to happen at all between 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM EST. I'm aware of the backup times and that's not it.....

In this period few backups are started in series: database backup, files backup, etc.

the only time i've been seeing a problem is at 11:35 p.m. c.s.t. and that lasts for about 15 minutes. so, i presume that's the backup going on.

ZZ, I couldn't get access to this site from 2:37 PM - 3:20 PM EST today.....currently still acting very sluggish.....while getting all other internet access without being sluggish. I've tried adjusting all the settings......and the problem seems to be only with this site......at least from my computer.....

yup, since about 1:45 p.m. c.s.t. till now, about 3:30, it's been quite rough. never completely stopped, but some very bad temp stalls/lags.

i did notice one thing about the lags. it seemed that any thread that had a link to the library, i.e., all the filter comment threads, that the thread would load pretty normally EXCEPT for the thumbnail to the library filter and that when leaving any thread with one of these in it, it would also lag pretty badly. other pictures, like sample pictures would load normally, but the thumbs took quite a while. so, based on that, i'm guessing whatever is causing this lag is related not so much to the forum itself, but to the library and its links here in the forums.
